Imagine having a single, streamlined space where you can store not only your payment cards, IDs, and transit passes but also a range of other important documents. From event tickets and gym memberships to insurance papers, Google Wallet’s new feature makes it possible. The power of AI enhances this experience even further, turning physical documents into digital passes with just a snap.

“Everything Else” section

Google Wallet now features a new section called “Everything else.” This addition allows users to store a variety of digital passes that go beyond traditional payment cards, IDs, transit passes, and loyalty cards.

At this point, you can select one of the following pass types:

  • Business card
  • Car insurance
  • Driver’s license
  • Events & tickets
  • Health insurance
  • ID card
  • Library card
  • Loyalty card
  • Passport
  • Residence permit
  • Student ID
  • Tax ID card
  • Vehicle registration
  • Voter ID card
  • Other

Users can add and manage items like event tickets, gym membership cards, insurance documents, and more within this new section.

AI-powered conversion

To add a new pass, users simply take a photo of their physical document. Google’s AI then processes this photo, classifies the data, and converts it into a digital pass automatically. This feature is only for the US for now.

The AI identifies the type of pass and categorizes it appropriately, making it easier to organize and access different types of digital passes.

Enhanced security with Private Passes

For sensitive information such as insurance cards or personal IDs, Google Wallet’s AI will automatically convert these passes into Private Passes.

Private Passes offer additional security to protect personal data from unauthorized access or breaches.

You will be in control

After scanning, users can review and edit the information to ensure accuracy before finalizing the digital pass.

This feature provides users with control over the details and presentation of their digital passes.

How to get it?

To access the new features, users need to update Google Wallet to the latest version.

If the “Everything else” section doesn’t appear immediately, a quick force stop of the app might be necessary.

In summary, Google Wallet’s update brings a more versatile and secure way to manage various types of digital passes, leveraging AI for easy conversion and enhanced security for sensitive information.
