Xiaomi is gearing up to release the production version of its SU7 Ultra electric vehicle (EV) in the first half of 2025. Following the recent reveal of its prototype, this model will be the most advanced variant of the SU7.
Key details of the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra
The production SU7 Ultra will retain the core components of the prototype, including its chassis structure, triple motor setup, and battery pack. The prototype, shown off by Xiaomi’s founder Lei Jun in a recent live stream, showcased impressive performance figures that are expected to carry over to the production model. Although the production version will be slightly more expensive than other SU7 variants, the increase is expected to be modest.
Performance and specifications
The SU7 Ultra prototype features Xiaomi’s V8s motor, which delivers 1,548 horsepower and spins at 27,200 rpm. It can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 1.97 seconds and from 0 to 200 km/h in 5.96 seconds, with a top speed exceeding 350 km/h. The prototype is powered by CATL’s Qilin II battery, which supports high discharge power and rapid charging.
The prototype’s braking system is equally advanced, with the ability to stop from 100 km/h in 25 meters. Its carbon fiber body cladding reduces the car’s weight to 1,900 kg, compared to the SU7’s standard weight of 1,980 kg, and 2,205 kg for the Pro and Max versions.
Production model adjustments
While the production SU7 Ultra will share many features with the prototype, it will not use an all-carbon fiber design due to cost considerations. Despite this, it will still incorporate advanced materials and technologies to ensure high performance.
SU7 sales performance
The SU7 electric sedan has seen strong sales, with over 10,000 units delivered in June and similar figures expected for July. This strong performance highlights the growing interest in Xiaomi’s electric vehicles and sets the stage for the SU7 Ultra’s release.
As Xiaomi prepares to launch the SU7 Ultra, it is clear that the company is continuing its push into the electric vehicle market with a focus on high performance and advanced technology.
