Spotify deluxe is coming but is it a money trap?

Spotify deluxe may appear, but why? Spotify has been subtly showing its users that it wanted to make changes to its premium service for a long time. This expected change was an innovation that had been in the works for years and left fans on pins and needles. Will it be music to our ears or just another way to tune our wallets?

Spotify deluxe will offer higher-quality audio streaming, as well as extra features like improved library management and AI-powered playlists. The company’s CEO Daniel Ek confirmed that this enhanced version of Spotify is still in development. He also did not give a specific release date. Spotify deluxe is expected to cost around $5 more than the current premium subscription and will cost around $17 or $18 per month.

The road to Spotify deluxe

Spotify‘s journey towards luxury streaming has been a long one. The company first announced plans for more premium streaming three years ago. However, the launch of Spotify deluxe has faced several delays and changes of direction.

Initially, Spotify planned to offer lossless audio as a standalone feature. But when competitors like Apple and Amazon started adding high-resolution audio to their standard subscriptions, Spotify had to rethink its strategy. Now, Spotify deluxe is shaping up to be a more comprehensive package that bundles a variety of premium features alongside improved audio quality. So if other companies didn’t offer high-quality audio in their standard packages, Spotify would sell it to us for extra money.

Now it’s going to add a couple of AI add-ons to go with the high sound quality, hopefully, these AI add-ons are things that work, and not everything is part of the plan.

What to expect from Spotify deluxe

While details are still somewhat vague, Spotify deluxe promises to deliver a “much better version” of the streaming service. In addition to higher-quality audio, users can expect:

  1. Advanced library management tools
  2. AI-powered playlists
  3. Headphone sound quality optimization
  4. More control over the listening experience

These features aim to cater to Spotify’s most dedicated users – the music lovers who crave more from their streaming service. With 246 million subscribers, Spotify believes there’s a significant subset of users who will be willing to pay extra for these enhanced capabilities.

Spotify’s need to increase revenue and compete with other streaming services that offer higher quality audio options demonstrated the importance of deluxe for the company.

As we await the official launch of Spotify deluxe, music fans and industry observers are eager to see how this new offering will be measured. Will it attract subscribers or will it fail? Only time will tell if Spotify deluxe will be the chart-topper the company hopes it will be.
