Sony’s second State of Play presentation in May of 2024 didn’t make a huge splash, but it did introduce some impressive games.
PlayStation 5 and PlayStation VR2 are set to receive games in the second half of 2025. Although Sony previously indicated that no new games should be expected until mid-2025, some titles are now slated for release in late fall of 2024.
Among the first-party titles, the remake of Until Dawn, Concord, and Astro Bot were standout mentions. Third-party titles such as Dynasty Warriors Origins, Ballad of Antara, and Monster Hunter Wilds also grabbed attention with their 2025 release dates.
Highlights from the May 2024 PlayStation State of Play
Concord: A new challenger in the hero shooter genre
Concord, first revealed at last year’s PlayStation Showcase, excited players with its new trailer. Aiming to bring fresh competition to popular games like Overwatch and Valorant, Concord is a 5v5 hero-based shooter set to release on PC and PS5 on August 23rd. A beta test in July will gather player feedback.
God of War Ragnarok coming to PC
Adding to Sony’s roster of PC titles, God of War Ragnarok will be available for PC players on September 19th. Mirroring the experience on PS4 and PS5, the game will feature visual enhancements similar to previous ports like Ghost of Tsushima: Director’s Cut. Given the success of the 2018 God of War on PC, expectations are high for Ragnarok.
Dynasty Warriors Origins: The legend reborn?
The pioneer of the Musou genre, Dynasty Warriors, returns with Origins in 2025. Featuring impressive visuals and innovative mechanics such as horseback combat, the game aims to rejuvenate the series. However, to regain its former popularity, Origins must meet the expectations of Musou fans and introduce fresh features.
Until Dawn Remake for PS5 and PC
The PS4 horror game Until Dawn is getting a remake for PS5 and PC, introduced with a new trailer at the May 2024 State of Play. Promising a visually enhanced version of Supermassive Games’ narrative-driven adventure, the remake is set to release this fall.
Astro Bot’s new adventure on PS5
Team Asobi announced their first game since the PS5 launch title Astro’s Playroom. The new game, Astro Bot, includes over 50 new levels and abilities like flying and growing using the DualSense controller. Featuring boss battles against giant creatures, Astro Bot will launch exclusively for PS5 on September 6th.

Infinity Nikki
Introduced with a new trailer, Infinity Nikki will be tested on PS5 in the third quarter of 2024. The colorful and fantastical world hinted at in the trailer invites players to a unique adventure.
Ballad of Antara
Set for a 2025 release, Ballad of Antara remains largely mysterious, but its trailer suggests a visually stunning open-world RPG experience.
Behemoth for PSVR2
