Have you heard of the new Spotify font they just recently released? Of course, Spotify never fails; they innovate and are always at the forefront of representing the pulsatingly creative audience. They’ve introduced a new typeface: Spotify Mix.
Spotify Mix started rolling out to listeners yesterday, abandoning the sans-serif currently found in in-app and desktop experiences. Here’s all that we know.
New Spotify font: What is Spotify Mix?
This sans serif typeface incredibly balances classic and modern styles to create a brilliant whole. Subtle shapes of sound waves at the corners presume a rhythm, while sharp angles coupled with soft curves bestow this typeface with a Spotify character.
Collaboration with Dinamo Typefaces
The bespoke typeface was made in collaboration with Spotify’s Brand and Creative team and typography studio Dinamo Typefaces in Berlin. Dinamo was another key partner in Spotify Mix, and Svart has knowledge of music, art, fashion, and digital culture.
Spotify Mix is a rich form of expression for artists and creatives. This flexibility makes the font unique and expressive in its application, not only in playlists but also in marketing. This, in its entirety, speaks well with Spotify’s mission: to give artists opportunities for self-expression and support its creative community.
An amazing experience
Spotify Mix is getting integrated throughout the Spotify user experience in the next few weeks with a global full integration. Listeners will be able to see this new font and many more in all of Spotify’s marketing materials from June 17 onwards at events such as the Spotify Beach at the Cannes Lions Festival of Creativity. They can also read more about this innovation on For the Record.
This is the next step in Spotify’s endeavors to elevate the aesthetics of its user interface and, quite more significantly, to identify even more closely with the creative community serviced by Spotify. A bespoke Spotify typeface? This is Spotify showing how serious it is about innovation in the area of visual language and the shaping of user experiences. Spotify Mix is more than just a typeface; it’s how Spotify designs the future that will redefine the creative boundaries of the not-possible.
