Instagram has always been a dynamic and evolving platform, especially for content creators. The platform’s algorithm and content distribution strategies are constantly being updated, requiring creators to implement the right strategies to connect with their followers and grow.
At a creator event in New York last week, Instagram CEO Adam Mosseri and his team shared key insights into the platform’s future and tips for helping creators succeed.
So what should you consider to succeed on Instagram? Here are all the details…
Instagram Reels Videos longer than 90 seconds may negatively impact reach
According to a report in The Information, the event shared valuable information about the ideal length of Reels videos. According to a slide presented at the event, posting Reel videos longer than 90 seconds can actually negatively impact creators’ reach.
In short, if you’re creating content on Instagram, it’s important to keep it short. Otherwise, you might not get a lot of engagement. For example, I don’t prefer to watch long videos on Instagram. I usually prefer to watch videos in the 20-30 second range. So, if you ask what Instagram recommends, they want you to produce shorter and clearer videos.
The popular social media platform also shared that some tactics should be avoided to increase engagement. For example, sharing content that isn’t yours, using watermarked content, or producing low-quality content in general can be viewed negatively by the platform’s algorithm and limit your reach.
Mosseri’s insights provide valuable insights to help creators shape their strategy. He also emphasized the importance of subscription models and other ways for creators to generate revenue.
As Instagram is a constantly evolving platform for creators, it is important for them to consider these tips and adapt their strategies accordingly. This will help them better connect with their followers and succeed on the platform.
