WhatsApp passkeys feature has started to be offered to users. The company continues to work to increase users’ security every day.

The last feature I mentioned above, passkeys, will open a whole new page in authentication.

So, what are WhatsApp passkeys, and how do you use them? Let’s take a closer look together.

What is WhatsApp passkey feature?

Passkeys, which replace traditional passwords, can use more secure methods such as biometric authentication or device passwords instead of one-time SMS passwords for device authentication. This protects against online attacks such as phishing.

passkeys are rolling out now on iOS 🔑 a more secure (and easier!) way to log back in with Face ID, Touch ID, or your passcode

here are some reasons you should set it up 👇

What are the benefits of WhatsApp passkeys?

Passkeys provide more flexible protection against phishing attacks than passwords that can be stolen or intercepted.

Biometric verification methods, such as fingerprints, facial recognition, or device passwords, can be used to log in, saving the hassle of remembering passwords.

It becomes much easier to log back into WhatsApp without dealing with one-time SMS passwords.

How to create WhatsApp passkeys?

Creating a Passkey is quite simple. To do this, you can follow the steps below:

  • First, open the WhatsApp app on your iOS device
  • Go to Settings
  • Tap Account
  • Select Toggle Switches
  • Tap Generate passkeys
  • Tap Continue
  • Select Use screen lock to create a wide key

Important reminder: The new feature is rolling out gradually. If you follow the steps above and don’t see the feature, try again after a while.

In the meantime, we recently told you that with WhatsApp AI, users can generate images in the chat window. For more information, you can check out our related article.

WhatsApp Passkey is an innovative feature that significantly improves users’ security and ease of sign-in. The new feature allows users to better protect themselves against online attacks such as phishing and access WhatsApp more easily.
