- The potential success of universal connections could inspire other streaming services to adopt similar features and revolutionize how we share music
The diversity of music streaming platforms brings with it a problem: the difficulty of sharing songs due to platform restrictions. Music fans who prefer different platforms find it difficult to share their favorite tracks with each other. But Tidal has introduced a new feature that could help solve this problem: Universal links.
With Tidal’s universal link feature, users can copy a link to a song or album and share it with anyone they want. When the recipient clicks on the link, the track opens on their preferred streaming platform. In this way, music lovers on different platforms, such as Spotify, Apple Music, and YouTube Music, can easily share their favorite songs.
So why is this feature important? Let’s take a closer look.
Tidal’s universal links feature eliminates limits
First, it eliminates platform restrictions. For example, you use Spotify, but your friend with whom you will share a song is a YouTube Music subscriber. Sending your friend the link to the song you will share will be enough. When your friend clicks on the link, they can choose which platform they want to listen from.
On the other hand, I think the new feature could attract new users to Tidal, making it a more attractive option.
Which platforms is Tidal’s universal connectivity currently compatible with?
Tidal has yet to announce which platforms the feature officially will be compatible with. However, rumors suggest that it is compatible with Spotify, Apple Music, and YouTube Music. In addition, Tidal may add more platforms over time.

Could Tidal’s universal connectivity revolutionize music sharing?
Yes, in my opinion. A friend of mine constantly shared songs with me on YouTube Music, but I couldn’t listen to them because I didn’t have a subscription and I didn’t use the app. Then I had to search for the same song on Spotify. I think the new feature will completely eliminate this annoyance. Should we expect such a breakthrough from other platforms? We will see in time.
