  • YouTube TV expands its features to simplify skipping to the best parts of longer videos with automatically generated video highlights.
  • This AI-powered feature streamlines the TV viewing experience by identifying key moments and providing thumbnails for quick navigation.
  • While creators can manually set highlights, the automatic option offers additional convenience for viewers of any video in the TV app.
  • Innovations like these highlight YouTube’s ongoing efforts to enhance the television viewing experience and solidify its position in the market.

We recently reported on rumors that the YouTube TV app allows purchases, and the company seems determined to improve the experience of watching videos on TV even further.

YouTube’s latest innovation is an auto-generated highlights feature that allows users to quickly access the best parts of the video they’re watching.

How does the new YouTube TV feature work?

The feature, available for all videos watched on the TV app, uses artificial intelligence and algorithms to identify a video’s most interesting or important parts. Users can access these highlights by pulling up the video progress bar and easily selecting them with the remote.

YouTube TV provides a title and thumbnail for each key moment, giving users an idea of what to view. This makes it easy to skip straight to the most interesting part rather than watching long videos from start to finish.

Conversely, creators can also manually create video highlights. In other words, they can mark important moments in their video.

The automatic highlights feature is a development that will make YouTube even more useful and enjoyable on TV. Especially for users who frequently watch long videos, it will save time and help them watch videos more efficiently.

The new feature seems to help further consolidate YouTube’s dominance on TV.
