Apple recently released critical security updates for iPhone and Mac users. iOS 17.4.1 and macOS Sonoma 14.4.1 fix a serious vulnerability that could allow attackers to control a user’s device.
Apple also released a standalone Safari update for Macs running macOS Monterey (version 12) and macOS Ventura (version 13), including the same patches as macOS 14.4.1.
Apple also released iOS 16.7.7 to fix the WebRTC vulnerability in some iPhone and iPad models, such as iPhone 8 and iPhone X, that are not supported by iOS 17.
How do you update your Apple devices?
Apple recommends that all users install these updates as soon as possible. You can follow the steps below to install the updates:
On iPhone or iPad:
- Go to Settings > General > Software Update.
- Tap “Download and Install iOS 17.4.1“.
On Mac:
- Go to System Preferences > Software Update.
- Click “Update Now“.

Apple has also released an update for iPhones and iPads that are not supported by iOS 17. iOS 16.7.7 also fixes a vulnerability in WebRTC. To install this update, go to Settings > General > Software Update.
