A feature we thought was forgotten on Facebook is becoming popular again: Facebook Poke! This fun feature, which has been on the platform since 2004, has recently experienced a 13-fold increase in usage.

So what is Facebook Poke, and why is it coming back? Let’s take a closer look.

What is Facebook Poke?

Remember the good old days when we would poke someone on Facebook and try to get their attention? Some of us used it to flirt with the opposite sex, while others used it as a friendly greeting or to annoy another person.

The poke feature has been around since Facebook’s inception and has lost popularity over the years. However, with some changes made by the popular social media platform, there has been a huge increase in the use of pokes.

Facebook Poke has become widely used again, especially among young users aged 18-29. Therefore, this can be interpreted as a sign that Facebook is trying to revive the poke feature.

However, there are several possible reasons for the return of poking. First, there is a growing sense of nostalgia for Facebook’s old features. Poke could be a feature that triggers these nostalgic feelings.

Second, poking is different from Facebook’s other types of notifications. It feels less formal and more intimate.

How to Poke on Facebook in 2024?

To poke someone, you can follow the steps below:

  • First, log in to Facebook from the mobile or web app
  • Then type Pokes in the search field and tap Pokes as in the image below

The return of Facebook Poke is like reconnecting with an old friend. It evokes a nostalgic feeling and creates a new dynamism on the platform. Maybe Poke will bring back that friendly and fun touch that Facebook needs. Who knows, maybe this nostalgic wave will also revitalize other forgotten features of Facebook.
