Hold onto your gamepads, folks – the gaming landscape is shifting faster than a round of “Forza”.
We’ve got two juicy updates that might just change the way you play forever.
Xbox + Boosteroid = Your phone is the new console
That’s right! Xbox Game Pass and Boosteroid have teamed up in a cloud gaming power move. Now, you can stream a massive library of awesome Xbox titles directly to your smartphone.
No more lugging around that bulky console, just grab your phone, and two subscriptions, and BOOM – you’re knee-deep in a “Halo” firefight on the subway or exploring the depths of “Sea of Thieves” during your lunch break.
Wait which two subscriptions you ask?
- Subscription #1: Xbox Game Pass. This subscription grants you access to a large and rotating library of Xbox games. Consider it your gateway to a diverse selection of titles
- Subscription #2: Boosteroid. This is a cloud gaming service. With Boosteroid, you can stream the Xbox games from your Game Pass library directly to your phone or other compatible devices
And of course, nothing is free. Both subscriptions come with a cost. Before signing up, investigate pricing models that work best for your budget.
Are we saying goodbye to consoles?
Whoa, whoa, whoa! Before we all start selling our Xboxes for scrap metal, let’s hear what former Xbox bigwig Peter Moore has to say.
In an interview with IGN, he said: Generation Z, those tech-savvy youngsters, might ditch dedicated consoles altogether. While he doesn’t predict the definite end of consoles, Moore acknowledges that major players like Microsoft and Sony are seriously considering the future of these gaming platforms.
Smartphones, tablets, and powerful PCs might be their gaming weapons of choice.
So, what’s the verdict?
Honestly, it’s too early to call “game over” on consoles.
Cloud gaming is incredibly tempting – play awesome games anywhere, anytime? Sign us all up!
But there’s something undeniably special about that classic console experience, snuggled up on the couch with a controller in hand, totally immersed in a game’s world.
Plus, will cloud gaming ever fully match the raw power and graphical fidelity of a high-end console or PC? I don’t think so.
The future: A hybrid world?
Perhaps the future of gaming isn’t about choosing one or the other. Maybe it’s a world where cloud gaming lets us hop into our favorite games on the go, while powerful consoles and PCs still deliver that mind-blowing, cutting-edge experience at home.
Only time will tell if Gen Z hands down a definitive verdict on consoles.
For now, let’s enjoy the best of both worlds: The freedom of mobile gaming and the undeniable power of dedicated consoles.
