Apple has released an important security update for iPhones with iOS 17.3 version in recent months. One of the prominent features in this update was iPhone Theft Protection settings.

With iOS 17.4, Apple has further improved this feature and expanded it to request Face ID or Touch ID authentication in all locations.
To better understand the new development’s importance, let’s examine in detail how the anti-theft system works and some of the innovations brought by iOS 17.4.

How do iPhone Theft Protection settings work?

iPhone Theft Protection settings, introduced in iOS 17.3, tied critical actions such as disabling the “Find My iPhone” feature or resetting the device to Face ID or Touch ID authentication. In this way, if your phone falls into the hands of a thief, it will be almost impossible to open and use your device.

On the other hand, this system also had a shortcoming: It was only active in unsecured locations. This ignored the theft risk in defined secure areas such as home or workplace. So, how can you activate this feature?

However, this system had one drawback: It was only active in unsecured locations, ignoring the theft risk in defined secure areas such as the home or workplace.

How to set iPhone Theft Protection settings?

You can follow the steps and images below to set this feature:

That’s all you need to do!

Version iOS 17.4 has expanded the scope of the iPhone Theft Protection settings system and activated it in all locations. Whether at home, at work, or abroad, your device will always not allow setting changes without Face ID or Touch ID authentication.

Other security measures introduced in iOS 17.4

Firewall: Blocks unwanted network connections and helps protect your device from attacks over the internet.

Privacy Control: Allows you to control which applications can access which data and helps protect your personal information.

Secure Boot: Checks the security of your device every time it boots and ensures that the operating system is intact.

In summary

New theft protection and other security measures in iOS 17.4 make iPhones even more secure. With this update, you can maximize the security of your devices and data.
