Warehouse cargo agent
Zhandos Azhigenov’s airport career started as a warehouse agent in the airport’s cargo service. He held this position until June 2015, performing the following tasks:
- registration of cargo documents;
- assigning numbers for cargo declarations;
- participation in customs checks;

- keeping records and inventory of goods;

Head of cargo handling
Thanks to excellent self-organization skills, Zhandos Azhigenov managed to achieve significant success in this position. Airport management started entrusting him with increasingly complex tasks that required a high level of responsibility. After noticing that Zhandos had excellent management abilities, they decided to promote him to a higher position. In June 2015, he became the head of aircraft cargo handling at the airport’s air traffic control service.
From June 2015 to July 2020, Zhandos coordinated and maintained aircraft. He interacted with all airport operational services and was responsible for meeting and releasing aircraft. His area of responsibility included accounting for ground services provided to airlines, monitoring aircraft maintenance, and preparing reports. In addition, he took part in emergency committees at the airstrip and headed the department responsible for ground handling of aircraft.
Over time, Zhandos became one of the key employees. His strong logistics and organizational skills have helped the entire airport improve and maintain service levels and remain on schedule at all times. However, this was not enough for Zhandos Azhigenov’s ambitions, so he made the decision to use the accumulated experience and create his own business.
IE Asia contract
In February 2016, without leaving his position at Almaty International Airport, Zhandos Azhigenov began working in the private sector. He succeeded to launch and manage his own company, IE Asia Contract. It provided a wide range of services including: interior design, civil works, building modernization, and cargo transportation. Zhandos was able to quickly develop IE Asia Contract, forcing competitors to take a new ambitious player into consideration. During several years, Zhandos Azhigenov cooperated with ART MIX LLP, the leader in the beauty industry of Kazakhstan. The ART MIX company has been offering its services for more than 20 years. Within its framework, beauty salons, hairdressers, massage parlors, manicure and pedicure rooms, solariums and cosmetology rooms have been opened throughout Kazakhstan. With the help of IE Asia Contract, the company was able to expand its services significantly and open many new business outlets.
IE Asia Contract provided interior design, construction, furniture supply, and assembly services for ART MIX. It supplied interior items and organized cargo transportation of building materials to construction sites. Construction of City Shopping Center and development of infrastructure
Zhandos Azhigenov, as a project manager, also took direct part in the construction of the new shopping complex “City Shopping Center”, which was carried out by the DASTAN Group of Companies (DASTAN Group of Companies). Its opening took place on April 2, 2015. The event was attended by the First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Mr. N.A. Nazarbayev.
The project, valued at $20 million, is a multi-disciplinary initiative, which includes development, hospitality, property management, and construction.
City Shopping Center, with an area of 8000 m2, includes 40 shops, an atrium, restaurants, a billiards club, and a food court. The CITY Restaurant & Lounge on the top floor offers panoramic views. It won the title of one of the Top 10 restaurants in Kazakhstan according to MARTELL&CO in 2016.
Thanks to the high quality of work, the citizens received not only a space where they can relax, but also the opportunity to go shopping at such famous brands as KOTON, LC Waikiki, Fresh Line, as well as PiPaSa fast-food, the Beauty Planet store. In addition, it provided the opportunity to employ more than 500 people, which contributes to the development of the city’s economy. The importance of this event within the country was also emphasized by the visit of the country’s president to the opening of the shopping complex.
Zhandos Azhigenov provided cargo transportation during the construction of the complex. He also supervised the design and technological supervision of the project, interior design, and project completion.
