Are you struggling to catch Pals in Palworld, despite the seemingly high capture chance displayed? Well, that sounds like a Palworld effigy bug to us!

Many players have encountered a frustrating bug that’s significantly reducing catch rates, and the culprit is the Lifmunk Effigy.

According to Reddit user StatusRhubarb6465, this seemingly helpful collectible might be doing more harm than good, causing the infamous Palworld effigy bug.

A statistical analysis on the Lifmunk Effigies – Are they really reducing our catch rate?

What is Palworld effigy bug?

The Lifmunk Effigy is a collectible item obtained through exploration in Palworld. It promises to boost your capture power, making it easier to snag those elusive Pals. However, recent discoveries have revealed a critical Palworld effigy bug that’s impacting its functionality.

The Palworld effigy bug lies in the way the Effigy interacts with your capture power. While it does increase the displayed capture chance percentage, the actual success rate remains significantly lower. This discrepancy can be misleading, leading players to believe they have a higher chance of catching a Pal than they actually do.

How should Lifmunk Effigy work?

The intended functionality of the Lifmunk Effigy in Palworld is somewhat unclear due to the conflicting information surrounding the potential bug impacting its effectiveness.

However, based on the in-game description and player experiences prior to the reported Palworld effigy bug, here’s what we can hypothesize about how it should work:

  • Permanent catch rate increase: When sacrificed at a Statue of Power, the Lifmunk Effigy is supposed to permanently increase your character’s base catch rate. This increase should apply across all Pals regardless of type or level
  • Transparency: The displayed capture chance percentage on the Pal Ball interface should accurately reflect your updated catch rate after using the Effigy. This means a higher base catch rate due to the Effigy should translate to a higher displayed capture chance, increasing your odds of success
  • No negative impact: Using the Effigy should not have any negative impact on your catch rates. In other words, it should not decrease your chances of catching a Pal compared to not using it

How did the community find out the Palworld effigy bug?

Two days ago, your world seemed certain. Chalenor‘s YouTube video claiming Lifmunk Effigies sabotaging catch rates felt like mere “nonsense.” Armed with the confidence of countless effigy-hunting nights, you dismissed it. But today, Reddit whispers echoed Chalenor’s claims, laced with statistics like “3% chance for only 37 catches.” Doubt crept in. Was your dedication a cruel illusion?

Fueled by this uncertainty, you embarked on a personal investigation. Numbers became your weapons, a spreadsheet your battleground. Chalenor’s video data revealed an average catch chance of 70.79%. Yet, this average, while reflecting expected catches, offered no clues about the probability of his abysmal 37 catches.

Enter your meticulously crafted experiment. Each row in your spreadsheet mirrored a throw from the video, its catch chance paired with a randomized number between 1 and 100. Numbers lower than the catch chance meant a catch, others signified misses. This simulated thousands of throws, replicating Chalenor’s “luck” a thousandfold.

The results were staggering. Even after 10,000 simulations, the lowest catch count remained a distant 52. Reaching 37 felt like winning the cosmic lottery – with odds of 7.91 x 10^-15! It would require a hundred trillion attempts, a number dwarfing even the vastness of space.

Are they working on it?

This statistical anomaly screamed “Palworld effigy bug”!

To solidify your suspicions, you ran a smaller experiment with your own lower catch rates. The results, while less mind-blowing (0.1% chance), mirrored the discrepancy. The conclusion was undeniable: something was fishy in Palworld’s catch mechanics.

Whether Pocket Pair, the developers, are aware of this Palworld effigy bug remains unclear. But for you, one thing is certain: the effigy hunt ends here. Until a fix emerges for the Palworld effigy bug, your focus shifts to alternative strategies, leaving the effigies to gather dust in the digital wilderness.

Is Palworld Pokemon or a fresh take? We are not sure but one thing is certain, the Palworld effigy bug is indeed annoying.
