While cross-play was a step in the right direction, Apex Legends cross progression was the missing puzzle. In Season 19, Respawn Entertainment has answered the community’s call by introducing cross-progression, making it easier to enjoy the game on your platform of choice.
In this article, we’ll break down the intricacies of how Apex Legends cross progression works. No more dealing with multiple accounts across various platforms; it’s time to bring everything together in a single unified account. This game-changer is for PC, Xbox, PlayStation, and Nintendo Switch players. Let’s explore the key aspects of cross-progression and see how it’s transforming how we experience Apex Legends.
The Apex Legends cross progression process
Apex Legends enthusiasts have long yearned for one thing: the ability to move their progress across different platforms seamlessly. With Season 19, Apex Legends players with multiple accounts face a significant change. They must merge all their accounts into one, no matter which platform they play on. This means that the days of switching between platforms and worrying about your progress are over.
Cross-progression is not an option you can choose; it’s a mandatory step. After logging in, you’ll receive an in-game notification to merge your accounts from different platforms. Your account with the highest level becomes the “master account,” while the others essentially disappear.
All your progress, including badges and cosmetics, will be combined, and you’ll receive a report on the items making the transfer. Once complete, you’ll have a single account that works across PC, Xbox, PlayStation, and Switch. It’s a significant step forward for players who love gaming on multiple platforms.
Handling Apex Coins on different platforms
The in-game money, Apex Coins, is handled differently depending on the platform. Apex Coins obtained on PC, Xbox, and PlayStation are merged into a single wallet and may be spent on any of these platforms. When it comes to the Nintendo Switch, however, things are a little different. Apex Coins for the Nintendo Switch are only available on that platform and cannot be spent elsewhere. Regardless, any new non-exclusive material purchased on the Nintendo Switch is available on all platforms and vice versa.
Your Apex Coins balance is shown differently depending on your platform. The unified Apex Coins balance will be accessible on PC, Xbox, and PlayStation, but the Nintendo Switch balance will not be viewable. When playing on Nintendo Switch, you’ll only see the Nintendo Switch Apex Coins balance, with the combined wallet balance obscured.
Cosmetics across platforms after Apex Legends cross progression
Apex Legends cross progression has greatly influenced how cosmetics operate in Apex Legends. Most material, including unlocked Legends and cosmetics, is now available on all platforms, regardless of where it was unlocked originally. There are a few exceptions, such as PlayStation Plus, Xbox Live Gold exclusive DLC, and the Nintendo Switch-exclusive Pathfinder skin, which was available at the platform’s debut. Such content is only available on the platform where it was created.
It is critical to understand that metrics cannot be combined across platforms. They are set to your primary profile by default, and any badges associated with stats from other profiles integrated into your EA Account may be inaccessible.
