Although she briefly regained consciousness and managed to recount the events to her mother, she soon lost consciousness again, leading to the decision to induce a coma. She was initially taken to Beaumont Hospital in Dublin before being transferred to Crumlin Children’s Hospital.

A close family friend expressed the profound grief felt by Sarah’s parents, stating,
The parents are just heartbroken. They’re in total shock. They don’t know which way is up… She was a very popular girl. She was just full of life, always laughing away. It’s just a tragedy here. All her friends in school are in tears, the whole school is. I don’t know what else to say. I’ve known the family for years. They are a wonderful bunch of people and now this has happened. It’s cruel. That’s the only word I can think of. It’s just cruel altogether.
Local law enforcement, Gardaí, has informed the coroner of the 14-year-old’s passing and is actively preparing an investigation file for further examination.
