A brand new and unexpected name is set to be added to the popular game’s Call of Duty characters roster: Nicki Minaj!
Nicki Minaj will be a playable character in Call of Duty: Warzone and Modern Warfare 2 as part of the game’s “50 Years of Hip Hop Celebration”.
This makes her the first-ever female celebrity “Operator” playable character in Call of Duty.
When can we see Nicki Minaj on Call of Duty characters roster?
Minaj will appear in her own storefront later in Season 5, with items for sale likely including the hot pink rifle.
Minaj’s character will be named “Red Ruby Da Sleeze,” and she will be decked out in a pink wig, leather outfit, and plenty of bling. Minaj’s appearance was previewed last year in a YouTube video called Squad Up, which also featured Lil Baby, Bukayo Saka, and Pete Davidson.

The announcement of Nicki Minaj’s inclusion in the Call of Duty characters roster has been met with mixed reactions. Some fans are excited to see the rap superstar in the game, while others are skeptical about how she will fit in.
What to expect from Call of Duty: Warzone Season 5?
The addition of the iconic queen of rap, Nicki Minaj, to the Call of Duty characters roster, isn’t the only change you can expect in Season 5, of course. As with every major patch, players should prepare themselves for a brand new gameplay experience in the new season of the popular FPS game, as we’ll soon see everything from new maps and weapons to a brand new game mode.
New maps
Call of Duty: Warzone Season 5 brings players 5 brand new maps. These maps are as follows:
- Punta Mar
- Strike
- Lounge
- Canal
- DRC – Zone 1
Punta Mar
Punta Mar is a recently evacuated tourist attraction in Las Almas. Players will fight up and down a hill, maneuvering through shops, across rooftops, and through abandoned residences to take control of an area centered around a cobblestone street.
There’s little time between engagements, so players will need to be on their toes.
Strike
Strike is a classic map from Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare. It has been restored to its full glory in Season 05, thanks to the latest Infinity Ward engine and technology.
This version of Strike is how veterans likely remember it, albeit with some slight adjustments to make it fit in Modern Warfare II.
Lounge
Lounge is a compact map for Gunfight and other small-squad modes. It takes place in a high-scale, high-octane club.
Players will need to stay active and use cover on this tiny map, as there’s danger at every turn.
Canal
Canal is a new Gunfight map that takes place in and around a brewery and a canal thoroughfare. It features cellars below the cobblestone streets above, with the action occurring between the canal bridges.
Players will need to be ready for close quarters combat while weaving through the brewery and restaurant.
DRC – Zone 1
DRC – Zone 1 is a small-sized map focused on fast-paced combat. It is located around the Visitor Center in the shadow of Building 21.
Players will be able to view some of the inner workings of the facility, from Research and Development to the shipping and receiving areas, to a few of the laboratories.
Havoc game mode
Havoc is a new Core Multiplayer mode that is inspired by classic arena-shooter gameplay. The match starts in a similar manner to a Team Deathmatch, but players will receive enhancement modifiers that change the gameplay in new and interesting ways.
Modifiers are randomly selected and added to the match once a squad reaches a multiple of 12 kills. There are 14 available modifiers, such as Ammo Feeder, which auto reloads a weapon upon elimination, Boots Off the Ground, which gives players moon gravity, and Flameshot, which limits players to using flame-tipped crossbows and Molotovs.
Modifiers stack as the match progresses, so by the end of a match, players could be experiencing a third-person, moon gravity, hero-landing-enabled, auto-reloading flame-tipped Crossbow and Molotovs-only Deathmatch.
Havoc is a fast-paced and chaotic mode that is sure to provide players with hours of entertainment and the best part? You can play this mode with Nicki Minaj!
Two new weapons, four more on the way
Another important reason why Call of Duty Season 5 is coming with a bang is that 6 new weapons will be added to the game. Yes, that’s right, 6 new weapons!
- FR Avancer is a fast-firing bullpup rifle that is effective at mid-range. It has a high fire rate and exceptional maneuverability, but it can be difficult to control due to its recoil
- Carrack .300 is a semi-automatic sniper rifle that is effective at long range. It has a unique design that provides best-in-class handling and stability when on the move
- M13C is a versatile assault rifle that is effective at both close and long range. It is chambered in .300 BLK, which gives it more stopping power than other assault rifles
- New SMG is a silent close-range weapon that is equipped with an integrated suppressor. It is perfect for Operators who want to play stealthy
- New sidearm is a mid-range weapon that offers more flexibility and stopping power than other sidearms
- Pickaxe is a simple, yet effective melee weapon. It is perfect for Operators who want to get up close and personal
Previously The Boys x Call of Duty collab brought Homelander to the game and now we will soon see rap icons of the 21st century on the Call of Duty characters roster. Is it the right decision to apply Fortnite’s formula of constantly adding pop culture references to its gameplay to a more “serious” game? Let’s see what fans of the game have to say…
