One of the most eagerly awaited handheld accessories in the gaming industry right now is Project Q, also known as the PlayStation Portable 2023 model, Sony’s new handheld gaming device designed as a companion to the PlayStation 5. Recently, a leak took the internet by storm.

Project Q, a new mobile gaming system from Sony, was first revealed in May. Sony confirmed that while portable, the system can only stream games from your PS5.

The device’s teaser clip revealed a Switch-like design with two controller halves around an eight-inch tablet-like screen. Jim Ryan, the head of PlayStation, said that the portable will debut later this year, although a precise release date has not yet been disclosed.

PlayStation Portable 2023 leak is here

A new leaked video on Twitter appears to have provided an answer to at least one of our inquiries regarding the Sony Project Q portable game streaming gadget. On a plastic-wrapped smartphone running a stripped-down version of Android OS, it displays a straightforward menu structure and a QR code.

Even though it’s highly unlikely that this will be the handheld’s final menu, it at least gives us a glimpse of what’s going on within. Quickly tapping through the menu, the individual recording the video then begins rolling the handheld over to reveal the front, back, and bottom of it.

It is difficult to tell much due to the low resolution. On the top of the gadget, you can make out what appear to be a set of four buttons, centered holes on the top and bottom edges of the tablet, and what appear to be speaker slots.

New PlayStation Handheld is on its way

What is Project Q?

Sony is creating a handheld gaming system called Project Q through its PlayStation division. Project Q is intended to play games over Wi-Fi, as streamed from your PlayStation, as opposed to having a fully enclosed device with adequate capabilities to run demanding games (such as the ROG Ally or Steam Deck).

The gadget made its debut in May 2023 during a live-streamed PlayStation event.

Project Q specs

Sadly, Project Q won’t be identical to earlier gaming handhelds. The Project Q portable gadget can only stream games from a PlayStation 5 through Wi-Fi or remote play; it cannot play games natively. It has all the conventional PlayStation buttons as well as movable triggers, haptic feedback, and a similar appearance to the DualSense.

There is also an 8-inch HD screen, however, the manufacturer provided no information on it. PlayStation Plus Premium titles cannot be streamed since users must install them on their PS5 consoles in order to play them.

It’s unclear how or if the new portable from Sony will work offline at all, but it is being advertised as a second screen and a mobile play alternative for the PS5.

PlayStation network not working: How to fix it (2023)?

The PlayStation is one of the most well-known gaming consoles in the world, and its preceding handheld consoles were always the center of attention and enjoyed by players. The business hasn’t introduced a handheld gaming gadget in a very long time, but it is doing so this year.

The PlayStation Portable 2023 allegedly offered up to 1080p gaming as well, but Sony declined to confirm these reports.

Sony merely offered a glimpse of it and very basic details. Project Q’s release date has still not been made public. Additionally, we don’t know what it will cost.
