Starwatch Overwatch 2 newest seasonal event, is tackling space opera. Starwatch is a daring new approach for Overwatch events, one that is as big and extravagant as its inspirations, with a tie-in comic, a ton of very flashy cosmetics, and a unique limited-time mode. Even more, a unique community-driven element that pits the renegade Watchers against the Galatic Empire’s iron grip will choose who rules the Starwatch world in the future based on player choices (and talent).
This time, in an LTM called Galactic Rescue, a new hybrid PvP/PvE game that is guaranteed to mix things up with the Arcade, players will select one of two teams to support.
In addition, there are several tasks to complete for entertaining galactic-themed cosmetics and awards, like as a free Epic skin for Wrecking Ball, with additional options available in the market if you have spare Overwatch Coins. There is a lot to do and learn. Here is all the information you want for the Starwatch Overwatch 2 event.

Starwatch Overwatch 2: Limited Time Mode
The Starwatch: Galatic Rescue Limited Time Mode is the major attraction of the Starwatch Event in Overwatch 2. May 9 to May 23 will be the time frame for this mode.
When logging in, players can pick between the Watchers or the Infinite Empire, each of which has a different roster of heroes. You can pick from Winston, Hammond, Ashe, Torbjorn, Lucio, or Baptiste for the Watchers. While waiting, you can play DVA, Sigma, Bastion, Sojourn, Soldier 76, Brigitte, or Mercy on the Empire. Each hero is decked up in the gear associated with their side, such as the Watchers’ traditional rebel costume or the Empire’s crisp crimson and black armor.
Both teams will be thrown inside Infinite Galactrius, a modified version of the Horizon Lunar Colony level. This sterile, clinical space station is a safe post for the Empire and has 4 capture points. You must either go deep within to find a lost ally as the Watchers or the Empire, or you must defend each of the spots to keep the rebels from leaving.
This mode differs from the typical capture-the-flag game in a number of ways. For starters, when your HP is out, you’ll experience a downed condition for 15 seconds rather than being instantly dead. If allies reach you before you pass out, they can revive you, allowing you to rejoin the battle straight away.
The spacecraft is also littered with several stage hazards, such as Gravity Implosion Cannisters, which may be fired to snare adjacent players in a manner akin to a Zarya Ultimate.
Each side also receives a unique mechanism that is specific to that group. A second member, an AI-controlled Doomfist named Bonebreaker, will be added to the Watchers team who can assist you even the odds and break past the Empire’s front line. Turrets and artillery are widely dispersed around the landscape, aiding the Empire in its battle against the invading rebels.
Starwatch Overwatch 2: The Fate of the Stars
There is a little extra flare for Starwatch Overwatch 2, much like there was during the Battle for Olympus event. You can select between the Empire or the Watchers for more reasons than merely gameplay variation; in fact, your decision will affect a side plot.
Blizzard has also created a comic book titled Starwatch: An Echo of Hope in conjunction with the Starwatch event. This 13–page comic provides some context for the fictitious Starwatch characters and their setting, as well as a more in-depth look at the Empire and the Watchers that stand in their way.
The narrative finishes on a bit of a cliffhanger, with a letter from Blizzard noting that the faction with the most wins will choose the direction of the following section of the narrative.
As a result, people who support the Watchers more than the Galactic Empire will wish to compete as the Watcher faction and win games. You have until May 22 to vote and support the other team since the side with the most victories will be declared the winner when the event time closes.
Starwatch Overwatch 2: Event Challenges
This Overwatch 2 event comes with a number of event challenges, as usual. By completing these tasks, you may get Battle Pass EXP, special sprays with Starwatch themes, voice lines, and more.
There are nine event tasks in all, and you have until May 22 to finish them. These difficulties are:
- Complete Orbit: Complete 5 Starwatch Event Challenges.
- Starwatch Veteran: Complete 5 games of Starwatch. Wins grant double progress.
- Big Bang: Destroy 3 gravity canisters in Starwatch.
- Zero Gravity: Stay airborne in low gravity for 4 seconds.
- Quantum Life: Reseurect a teammate in Starwatch.
- Protostar: Complete 4 games. Wins grant double progress.
- Shoot for the Stars: Complete 8 games. Wins grant double progress.
- Rebel of the Galaxy: Win 12 games. Wins grant double progress.
- Hero of the Galaxy: Win 16 games. Wins grant double progress.
If you succeed in completing each of these tasks, you will receive 50,000 Battle Pass EXP, which is equivalent to 5 complete levels, simply for participating in the event. Infinite Flight and Join the Infinite sprays, as well as audio lines for Doomfist and Sigma, are additional awards.
Starwatch Overwatch 2: Free epic skin
The new Epic Astronaut skin for Wrecking Ball is the coolest Starwatch prize, though. The skin itself adheres to the same design principles as other Epic skins and makes no substantial changes to the Wrecking Balls aesthetic. Hammond acquires a pink and purple skin tone that resembles that of an extraterrestrial, comparable to other individuals in the Watcher group of the Starwatch plot.
The Wrecking Ball mech is only a sleek grey and gold recolor with brilliant blue lights, ensuring that you seem stylish as you zoom by.
Complete the Complete Orbit event tasks in Overwatch 2 to receive the Wrecking Ball Astronaut Skin. This requires completing 5 more Starwatch challenges; if you want to do it as quickly as possible, consider working on the challenges related to the Starwatch LTM, since they are all quite easy and quick in comparison to the others.
Astronaut Hammy will join your crew if you successfully complete the Complete Orbit task and then just claim it before the May 22nd deadline.
Starwatch Overwatch 2: Shop updates
Finally, there is a significant shop redesign to promote Starwatch-related cosmetics, as there is with each significant Overwatch event. For the three weeks
The Starship Engineer and Legendary 3CH–0 skins for Echo and Torbjorn, respectively, are now the highlighted products. Throughout the event, you may pay 1900 Overwatch Coins to buy each of these skins separately. As an alternative, you may purchase a bundle of 3CH-0 Starship Engineer for 3000 Coins. This bundle includes a name card, voice lines, a few weapon charms, and a few tiny cosmetics.
It’s interesting to note that many of the skins shown in the Starwatch event are included in the Season 4 Battle Pass for Overwatch 2 compared to prior seasons. This time around, the Battle Pass is where you can find Mythic Sigma’s skin as well as Winston, Bastion, Ashe, Doomfist, and Mercy. Additionally, the Season 4 Starter Pack and Ultimate Battle Pass Bundle both include the Solider 76 and DVA skins.
Only Baptiste and Sojourn remain, so they’re expected to become available for purchase in the coming weeks.
That was everything you needed to know about the new Starwatch Overwatch 2 event.
