Get ready to soar through the skies on your broomstick with Harry Potter Quidditch Champions! This highly-anticipated video game, developed by Unbroken Studios and published by WB Games, is set to take the gaming world by storm with its fast-paced, competitive multiplayer gameplay. As the only official Quidditch game since 2003’s Harry Potter: Quidditch World Cup, Quidditch Champions promises to be a thrilling and immersive experience for both casual and hardcore Harry Potter fans alike. Whether you’re a seasoned Quidditch player or a newcomer to the sport, get ready to take flight and compete against friends in a standalone Quidditch adventure like no other!
This game is a perfect addition to the Harry Potter franchise, as it fills a gap left by the most recent game, Hogwarts Legacy, which notably lacked a playable version of Quidditch. Harry Potter Quidditch Champions offers a complete and standalone Quidditch experience, as stated in its FAQ. Players can engage in the beloved sport and other broomstick adventures, competing against friends in a competitive multiplayer setting. Plus, just like in Hogwarts Legacy, players can create their own characters to take on the game. Get ready to fly high with Quidditch Champions!
It looks like Harry Potter Quidditch Champions has been in the works for quite some time! WB Games confirms that the game has been in development for several years by the talented team at Unbroken Studios, based in Los Angeles. These are the same folks who brought us the action-packed battle royale game, Fractured Lands, and are currently collaborating with Rocksteady Studios on Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League.
Harry Potter Quidditch Champions will be loyal to J.K. Rowling’s original version
WB Games has made it clear that their new Quidditch game stays true to J.K. Rowling’s original vision, as they also did with Hogwarts Legacy. However, they also noted in their FAQ that the game was not written by Rowling herself and will not be a direct adaptation of the books or films. It’s great to see that the studio is respecting the source material while also creating something unique and exciting for fans of the franchise.
Some diehard Harry Potter fans have made the tough decision to boycott Hogwarts Legacy due to author J.K. Rowling’s controversial views on gender identity. In a confrontational essay published on her personal website in 2020 and reiterated on Twitter, Rowling expressed skepticism towards transgender-inclusive laws and policies, which has caused some fans to distance themselves from her and her work.
Even those who play Quidditch in real life have taken a stand against Rowling and her views, choosing to rename their version of the sport “Quadball” as a way to disassociate from her. It’s a difficult situation for fans who love the world of Harry Potter but feel conflicted about supporting its creator.

It seems like Hogwarts Legacy exceeded expectations, as it sold an impressive 12 million copies in just two weeks! Warner Bros. isn’t slowing down on their Harry Potter exploitation either, as they’re bringing a new live-action adaptation of the beloved seven-book series to HBO. And, as if that weren’t exciting enough, Rowling will be directly involved as an executive producer.
While other Harry Potter games have featured Quidditch as a playable element, such as Lego Harry Potter: Years 1-4, the only other official game dedicated solely to the sport was 2003’s Harry Potter: Quidditch World Cup, which was released for Game Boy Advance, GameCube, PlayStation 2, and Xbox. Unfortunately, an unofficial Quidditch-inspired game called Broomstick League was pulled from Steam in 2020, leaving fans of the sport with limited options. But with the announcement of Harry Potter Quidditch Champions, the wait is finally over for a modern and official Quidditch game!
