A huge upgrade has been made to the new Game of Thrones spin-off series, which is now known as A Knight Of The Seven Kingdoms: The Hedge Knight. HBO has given the show an official order.
Less than a year after House of the Dragon became one of HBO’s most successful series, the studio said today that it will extend the Game of Thrones brand in the near future.
During today’s ceremony to promote HBO Max’s rebranding as Max, Warner Bros. revealed the production of a new Westeros prequel named A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: The Hedge Knight. If you’ve enjoyed any of the projects set in George R.R. Martin’s universe, you’re in for a treat with this new novella.
Although no release date has been set, the program will eventually premiere on Max, WBD’s new streaming service.

HBO orders a new Game of Thrones spin-off
The story of “A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms” is based on George R.R. Martin’s “Dunk and Egg” novella series. The show will be set in Westeros and will chronicle the exploits of a knight named Ser Duncan the Tall (Dunk) and a youthful squire named Aegon V Targaryen (Egg). Dunk will become Lord Commander of the Kingsguard, and Egg will become King one day.
The Max project is just the second Game of Thrones spinoff to be approved for the streaming service. “House of the Dragon” averaged 29 million US viewers per episode and is now in development for its second season.
In addition to “A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms”, WBD revealed a slew of additional fascinating spinoffs based on popular IP. This includes a Harry Potter series, a Batman spinoff series called “The Penguin“, a drama series based on The Conjuring trilogy, a comedy series based on The Big Bang Theory, and more shows.
About the new Game of Thrones spin-off
The spinoff takes place around 100 years before the events of “Game of Thrones”, while the Targaryen family still holds the Iron Throne. The setting is similar to “A Song of Ice and Fire”.
Fans of the Dunk and Egg tales have been waiting for further information on the spinoff since George R.R. Martin suggested it in an interview with Entertainment Weekly in 2016. There were further rumors concerning the “A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms” series in 2020.
When will it be out?
Although no date for the conference has been scheduled, the series will ultimately make its debut on Max, WBD’s new streaming platform, and might be available to view by the end of 2023 or the beginning of 2024.
The official logline for A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: The Hedge Knight may be found below:
“A century before the events of ‘Game of Thrones,’ two unlikely heroes wandered Westeros… a young, naïve but courageous knight, Ser Duncan the Tall, and his diminutive squire, Egg. Set in an age when the Targaryen line still holds the Iron Throne and the memory of the last dragon has not yet passed from living memory, great destinies, powerful foes, and dangerous exploits all await these improbable and incomparable friends.”
