According to a recent Bloomberg report, LayerX Inc, a Tokyo-based fintech startup, is making waves for its innovative approach to hiring. The company has been making it mandatory for job applicants to demonstrate their proficiency in AI tools such as ChatGPT and Notion AI.

In a recent interview, the Chief Human Resources Officer of LayerX, Takaya Ishiguro, explained that despite the fact that ChatGPT is not infallible, it would be “dangerous to be too afraid to utilize new technology.” By testing potential employees on their ChatGPT skills, LayerX is able to identify candidates who are not only proficient in the technology but are also willing to embrace and adapt to new advancements in the field.

LayerX’s move towards integrating AI technology in their hiring process reflects a growing trend among businesses worldwide. According to the same Bloomberg report, LayerX’s recruitment process includes asking entry-level candidates to provide prompts to ChatGPT as part of their assignments. The company’s recruiters evaluate the candidate’s ability to initiate the process rather than the actual responses generated by the AI model. Additionally, candidates are also tasked with investigating the limitations of the technology, highlighting the company’s focus on developing employees who have a deep understanding of the technology they are working with.
