Spotify introduced Marquee, Discover Mode and Showcase, three new features for the platform. Let’s discover them all!

At the recent Spotify Stream On event, a global gathering of artists, songwriters, podcasters, and authors convened for a day of exciting revelations and creative insights. Attendees had the opportunity to engage with cutting-edge demonstrations of Spotify’s innovative tools and resources, including powerful features designed to help artists promote their work and expand their fan base through the Spotify for Artists platform.

How to use Discovery mode on Spotify?

Personalized recommendations are responsible for one-third of all new artist discoveries on Spotify. Now, with the introduction of Discovery Mode, artists and their teams can prioritize certain songs for promotion. By adding a signal to Spotify’s sophisticated algorithms, these songs are more likely to be recommended to listeners on Radio and Autoplay. To keep artists informed, Spotify provides monthly reports that detail how many new listeners their selected songs reached, how often they were added to playlists, and how frequently they were saved.

The impact of Discovery Mode on new releases is impressive. During the first month of Discovery Mode usage, listeners saved these songs 50% more often, added them to playlists 44% more frequently, and followed the artist 37% more. Notably, these impressive results have remained consistent even as the program has scaled up.

Today marks a significant milestone in Spotify’s commitment to promoting independent artists and labels. With the launch of Discovery Mode directly within Spotify for Artists, thousands of artists and labels who distribute their music independently now have access to this powerful tool.

Watch the video below to learn how to use Discovery Mode on Spotify:

Spotify for Artists

Spotify for Artists is a platform that offers musicians and their teams a powerful suite of tools designed to help them promote their music and grow their careers. With Spotify for Artists, artists can access a range of features, including detailed audience insights, promotional tools, and data analytics that measure the effectiveness of their campaigns. This platform enables artists to better understand their listeners, connect with their fans, and make data-driven decisions about their music careers. Whether you’re an independent artist or signed to a major label, Spotify for Artists offers a valuable set of tools to help you reach your goals and achieve success in the music industry.

What is Spotify Marquee?

Marquee is a highly effective marketing tool that offers a full-screen sponsored recommendation of an artist’s new release to listeners across both Spotify Free and Premium. This valuable feature enables artist teams to connect with fans who have previously demonstrated an interest in their music, making it a key element of many artists’ and labels’ release strategies.

Recently, the company collaborated with marketers across eight major labels and distributors to compare Spotify Marquee’s effectiveness with other leading off-platform marketing options. The results were impressive, with Marquee delivering ten times more Spotify listeners for every dollar spent on comparable social ads.

Currently available to all U.S. artist teams via Spotify for Artists, Spotify Marquee is being rolled out to artist teams in the U.K. and Australia starting this week. This expansion will provide even more independent artists and labels with access to this powerful promotional tool.

TikTok-ification continues with Spotify: Showcase

Spotify also announced the introduction of Showcase, an innovative marketing tool currently undergoing testing. This new feature will appear as a mobile card on Home and is designed to introduce listeners to an artist’s music, whether it’s a new release or catalog. While Showcase is currently being tested with select artists and labels, it will become more widely available in the near future.
