Even though the latest CS game is still popular, it is more than a decade old. This all might change soon because of a possible CSGO 2 leak by NVIDIA, where they had references to a new installment to the franchise in the source code.
The team-based action gameplay that Counter-Strike introduced when it debuted 19 years ago is expanded upon in Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (CS: GO). The traditional CS content (de dust2, etc.) is upgraded and available in CS: GO along with new maps, characters, weapons, and game modes. Possible CSGO 2 leaked because of NVIDIA’s latest driver
Following the release of the most recent drivers for NVIDIA GPUs, it was discovered that the update’s code had a reference to “CSGOS2” and “CS2” that was hidden within the “Game Profiles” section. These are thought to be signs of an upgrade that will see CSGO switched to Source 2, a more modern game engine from Valve, soon.
At first glance, “CSGOS2” might quite literally mean “CSGO Source 2,” but the ambiguity was increased when the term “Counter-strike 2” was used, leading some fans to believe that a CSGO sequel was in the works. Fans of the venerable FPS game have long advocated for the idea of CSGO switching to Source 2, but is it finally about to happen?
The legendary game Counter-Strike: Global Offensive continues to set records after more than ten years. The game recently broke peak player records on Steam, bringing in a concurrent user count of up to 1,354,248. CSGO is undoubtedly the most popular esports game, and as such, it literally carries the entire industry on its shoulders.
While it has been ten years, it appears like CSGO is still ready to cause a major stir in the gaming world. A Reddit comment that was also reposted on Twitter suggested that Source 2, Valve’s most recent game engine and the grand successor to the Source engine, may be ready to receive some type of boost for CSGO.
Dota 2 and other Valve-powered games run on Source 2, while CSGO, the company’s flagship multiplayer game, continues to operate on Source, which is nearly two decades old and somewhat out of date – even if it still manages to work astonishingly effectively to retain gamers.
The author of the aforementioned statement about the CSGO 2 leak, Twitter user aquaismissing, originally asserted that their sources had disclosed that CSGO would be upgraded to operate on Source 2 in Q1 of 2023. It might still prove to be a reliable tip given that we’re still in that window.
😳🚨With one of the latest NVIDIA Drivers a new Game Profile has been added to the NVIDIA Control Panel called "Counter-strike 2"!!
Apparently it has 2 executables:

– cs2.exe pic.twitter.com/hWsWOh4YKV— Aquarius 🛹 (@aquaismissing) March 1, 2023
Fans quickly theorized that CSGO’s shift to Source 2 wouldn’t be a seamless one, though. Instead, Valve would probably opt to beta-test the improved product before possibly considering a wider release of a more refined version after gathering data and feedback and testing the market.
This new CSGO 2 leak comes just after the TF2 Repo leak 2023: Maps, models, and more. It seems like Valve is working on big things and it might be a good idea to watch out for what they come up with next.
