With their distinct appearance of large eyes that scan their surroundings, you’ll know when you’ve stumbled upon one. However, opening these eye chests is no easy feat. As you approach, the chests will hunker down and growl at you, making it clear that casting spells or charms on them won’t do the trick.
Unlike other objects such as moth frames and field guide pages that require spells cast upon or near them, opening the eye chests requires a different approach. You’ll need to cast a spell on yourself, which may not be immediately apparent. That’s why we’ve put together this guide to help you navigate this tricky process. Hogwarts Legacy Eye Chest locations
If you’re looking to uncover the elusive Eye Chests in Hogwarts Legacy, we’ve got some tips to help you find a few of them early on. Here are the locations of some of the chests you can find in and around Hogwarts!
Viaduct Courtyard
To find this Eye Chest, start at the Viaduct Courtyard floo flame and head up the stairs. Then, continue up the next set of stairs to your immediate right, essentially doubling back on yourself. From there, head towards the wide stairs ahead of you, but veer right so that you’re standing next to the wall of the tall tower. Take the stairs on your left, and you’ll eventually find the Eye Chest at the end of the path.
Library Annex
To find the Eye Chest located in the Library Annex, head to the Library floo flame and run towards the bookshelves. From there, turn left and run towards the wall until you come across a gate on your right. Pass through the gate, and then run forward until you reach a set of stairs leading downwards. Take a left at the bottom of the stairs, and then run through the left doorway until you enter a room with a rectangular cutout. Proceed through the doorway that leads downstairs, and keep running through the subsequent rooms until you reach a table with a green lamp on it. The Eye Chest will be on your left.
Greenhouses
To open this Eye Chest in Hogwarts Legacy, take the Greenhouses floo flame and turn left. Continue running forward until you reach the tree, and then go down the stairs behind it. You’ll find the Eye Chest tucked away below.
Professor Fig’s Classroom
The Eye Chest in Professor Fig’s Classroom can be found by heading through the door right next to the Professor Fig’s Classroom floo flame. Look for the chest on the back wall of the bathroom, situated beneath the window.
Defence Against The Dark Arts Classroom
From the Defence Against the Dark Arts Classroom floo flame, head down the steps ahead and take a left at the bottom. Keep going until you reach the corner ahead, where you’ll find the Eye Chest waiting for you.
Bell Tower Courtyard
To find an eye chest in the Bell Tower Courtyard, go up the left staircase from the floo flame and continue up the following set of stairs, then follow the path up more stairs to the end.
Lower Grand Staircase
The eye chest can be found there. For the eye chest in the Lower Grand Staircase, head straight ahead from the floo flame, go down and then up more stairs until you reach a circular room with a statue. The eye chest is located on the left wall beside the statue.
Circular Room Past Sleeping Dragon
To locate an eye chest in the circular room past the Sleeping Dragon, use the Transfiguration Classroom floo flame and enter the North Hall, go down the far right stairs, and proceed through a door at the bottom. Keep going down until you find a room with a sleeping dragon, then follow the right corridor to a room with casks, take the stairs on the right through a barred door, and continue down the spiral staircase until you reach a circular room where the eye chest is on the right wall.
Left side of the Pond
To find the eye chest from the North Hogsmeade floo flame, take the stairs on your left and stay to the left of the pond. At the end of the low wall on your left, you’ll find a gap that allows you to double back. Look for the eye chest at the bottom of the slope, against the building.
Dogweed and Deathcap
To locate the eye chest, use the North Hogsmeade floo flame and head north on the road, crossing over the bridge. The Dogweed and Deathcap shop will be located in this area, with the eye chest positioned against the wall across from Beatrice Green.
