The highly anticipated Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra is scheduled for official unveiling during the forthcoming Samsung Unpacked event on the 1st of February. Nevertheless, in an unprecedented turn of events, a Brookhaven AT&T store in Atlanta has preempted the launch by showcasing the device on their website, complete with images, a detailed description of its features, and the available color options.
Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra: Specs and price
The Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra is rumored to be available in a variety of striking color options, including Green, Cream, Lavender, and the elusive Phantom, a unique Grayish-Black hue. Boasting a 6.6-inch display with automatic adaptive technology and a powerful 50-megapixel camera, equipped with Advance Nightography, the device is set to be a photography powerhouse. Additionally, the S23 will be water-resistant, with a battery capable of providing all-day power, wireless fast charging capabilities, and advanced noise cancellation features.
According to recent reports, the dimensions of the new Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra are stated to be 5.76 inches in length, 2.79 inches in width, and 0.30 inches in thickness, with a lightweight design weighing in at a mere 5.93 ounces. The AT&T store listed the device, complete with a “Shop Now” button that was non-functional, prior to the official launch. The website was swiftly taken down at approximately 11:20 AM Eastern Time.
Samsung is expected to reveal the full lineup of the S23 series, which includes the Galaxy S23, Galaxy S23 Plus, and Galaxy S23 Ultra, during their forthcoming Unpacked event on Wednesday. The highly anticipated event will take place in-person in San Francisco and will also be available for live streaming online.
Despite requests for comment, AT&T has yet to respond regarding the matter. Samsung, too, has declined to make any official statement at this time.
More Galaxy S23 rumors
It is widely speculated that Samsung will unveil multiple models within the S23 series, each likely to be offered at different price points. Based on past pricing trends, it is unlikely that the company will deviate significantly from the prices of last year’s S22 lineup. As a point of reference, the entry-level S22 was introduced with a starting price of $800, while the S22 Plus model had a starting price of $1,000, and the premium S22 Ultra was launched at $1,200 in the United States last February.
The camera technology is poised to be a highlight of the new Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra, as hinted at in a blog post by T.M. Roh, Head of Samsung’s Mobile Experience Business, on January 17th. It is widely anticipated that the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra will feature the cutting-edge Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor, as opposed to Samsung’s traditional usage of its proprietary Exynos chips for its European models. This shift was indicated in a recent Qualcomm earnings call, indicating that the company will utilize Qualcomm’s silicon for all models within the S23 range.
In terms of other specifications, it is anticipated that the base models of the S23 series will feature a minimum of 8GB of RAM, with the capability for 12GB available on the S23 Ultra. The storage options are expected to commence at 128GB, with higher capacities available for a premium price. Unfortunately, it does not seem that the return of the microSD card slot for expanded storage is on the horizon.
Recent Federal Communications Commission certifications have indicated that the base S23 model will be equipped with a 3,900-mAh battery, an improvement from the 3,700 mAh on the base S22, while the S23 Plus is expected to receive a boost to 4,700 mAh. The battery capacity of the S23 Ultra has yet to be officially confirmed, though sources suggest it will have the same 5,000-mAh cell as the S22 Ultra.
