Giant technology company Microsoft rolled up its sleeves for its AI-powered search engine. According to rumors, Microsoft will integrate AI technology into the Bing search engine, which has been in use for years.

The Information, citing two sources with direct knowledge of the preparations, reported on Tuesday that Microsoft Corp. is preparing to introduce a version of its search engine Bing that will make use of the AI that powers ChatGPT, a chatbot developed by OpenAI.

Microsoft may introduce the new function by the end of March in an effort to compete with Alphabet’s search engine Google, according to a report from a San Francisco-based technology news website.

Microsoft announced in a blog post from last year that it intended to incorporate OpenAI’s DALL-E 2 image-generation engine into Bing.

No official statement yet from OpenAI and Microsoft about an AI-powered search engine

Microsoft invested $1 billion in the San Francisco-based artificial intelligence startup OpenAI in 2019. In order to build artificial intelligence supercomputing technologies on Microsoft’s Azure cloud computing service, the two have established a multi-year agreement.

On November 30, OpenAI made its ChatGPT chatbot available for free public testing. The chatbot is a piece of software created to replicate human-like dialogue in response to user input and can answer a wide variety of queries while mimicking human speaking styles. Although there are no statements about an AI-powered search engine from Microsoft yet, AI-powered Bing might be able to surpass the Google search engine, which has been the leading search engine in popularity for years.

Google is already using an AI-powered search engine

Google has been using the machine learning algorithm RankBrain since 2015. It’s how it makes it easier to process search results and give people more insightful responses.

Every time a user performs a search query on Google, AI is used, and the system is continually evolving. With RankBrain, the search engine now functions differently. Because RankBrain can handle search queries better than conventional algorithmic rules hand-coded by human programmers, Google has understood for some time that artificial intelligence (AI) is the future of their search platform. Based on our search history and other data it collects about us, AI will make recommendations.

However, when ChatGPT was presented to users by Open AI, it met with much more interest than expectations. Therefore, the fact that Bing will work with AI developed by OpenAI brings to mind the idea that we will encounter an extremely ambitious search engine.

Why are AI-powered search engines such a big deal?

A search engine’s capacity to “understand” user intent based on the information entered into the search box is what gives it its ability to do intelligent searches. It makes use of a variety of technologies, including natural language processing (NLP) and machine learning, to better understand what each user wants. It is also referred to as cognitive search and AI search. The appropriate search query results can be offered once that has been determined.

Although ChatGPT impressed us all with the features it offered us, the only criticism it received was that it could not be used in order to maintain its objectivity on current issues. Perhaps the AI, which will be used in current search results in cooperation with Microsoft AI, can also be used in the development of ChatGPT.

We’re definitely excited about the AI-powered search engine being integrated into Bing by Microsoft AI, although it’s not yet confirmed. It seems quite possible that an official statement will be made by Microsoft and OpenAI on the subject in the very near future. We recommend that you read our article titled ”how long has AI been helping us” before we finish our article by mentioning that we will convey the updates on the subject to you.
