There are a number of reasons why your Wii controller not working and we’ve covered all of the solutions to most common problems that cause this issue on the Nintendo Wii.
Nintendo‘s Wii is a home video game console that was created and sold by the company. It was released in North America on November 19, 2006, and in most other parts of the world in December 2006. Following GameCube, it is Nintendo’s fifth major home gaming system and a seventh-generation console with Microsoft’s Xbox 360 and Sony’s PlayStation 3.

How to fix Wii controller not working?

Here are the most common reasons why the Wii controller not working and their solutions.

The remote won’t turn on

Batteries might be dead: We’ve all had those days when we obsess over the minor details. Check to ensure that the Wii Remote’s batteries are fully charged. If not, replacing the two AA batteries or recharging your rechargeable batteries may suffice.

Bad battery connection: If it doesn’t work, make sure the batteries are properly orientated and establish a good connection with the spring-loaded battery connectors. Examine the contacts for corrosion and attempt to brush them off. This might solve Wii controller not working.

Bad connection with the power button: You have new batteries and solid connections in the Wii Remote, but it still does not work. The connection between the power button and the motherboard may be clogged, preventing the remote from turning on. Open the cover plate and softly brush the power button contact with a fresh, dry toothbrush to clean it. It’s also conceivable that the power button within the Wii Remote is slightly misaligned, or that the power button connection has fried. In any scenario, you should replace the power button.

The buttons stick

Food/liquid under the button: Do you ever get a need for a snack while playing Wii and forget to wash your hands? Food and sugary liquids may readily get below buttons, causing them to stick or cease to function. Your buttons may just require a thorough cleaning. You’ll need a NEW toothbrush, warm water, and some soap to clean the buttons. Before cleaning your buttons, remove the batteries from your remote. Brush around the sticky buttons with a toothbrush that has been slightly dampened with warm soapy water. Using a paper towel, pat dry. If the issue persists, you may need to install new buttons. This might solve Wii controller not working.

The Cursor Isn’t Where it’s Supposed to Be

Sensor bar is obstructed: Check that nothing is blocking the Sensor Bar. If it is, relocate it so that it has a clear line of sight with your remote. Check that the Sensor Bar is completely inserted into the Wii Console’s back.

Miscalibrated: A Wii Remote is frequently miscalibrated, resulting in a misdirected cursor. Place the remote on a table, button side down, for 10 seconds to re-calibrate it. Make sure the Wii Remote is parallel to your TV screen. After 10 seconds, return the Wii Remote to the TV. If this doesn’t work, go to the Wii settings on the home screen and make sure your sensor bar is positioned correctly, either below or above your TV.

A light source is too close to the sensor bar: The Wii sensor bar detects where you are aiming by using a heat signal from the Wii Remote. Check that no lighting are too close to the sensor bar, since the combined heat signals will cause the erratic cursor. Also, make sure that there are no infrared bulbs in the same room as your Wii, since this will interfere with the sensor bar. This might solve Wii controller not working.

Malfunctioning sensor screen: If the issue persists, it is most likely due to a faulty sensor screen on your Wii Remote.

Faulty motherboard: The Wii Remote’s motherboard is its beating heart. When you click the power button, the motherboard sends signals throughout the Wii Remote, including the signal to turn on the remote. If you’ve tried everything else, the problem might be a faulty or burned-out motherboard.

No Sound from the Wii Remote

Dirty contacts: The speaker has two connections to the motherboard, and debris or dust might interfere with the signal reaching the speaker. To access the speaker, first remove the cover plate. Locate the two gold round speaker contacts and softly brush them with a clean, dry toothbrush once inside the device. This might solve Wii controller not working.

Burnt-out remote speaker: When you hit a serve in Wii Tennis, your remote does not swoosh. This indicates that there is an issue with your Wii Remote’s internal speakers. Typically, this is caused by dirt and dust entering into the remote.

Remote Doesn’t Rumble

Broken rumble box: A ‘rumble box,’ which is a motor with a weight attached, creates the rumble in your Wii Remote. This occasionally fails, resulting in your remote not rumbling. However, replacing and installing a new rumble box would need advanced soldering skills and specialized equipment. Rather, replacing your motherboard might solve Wii controller not working.

Hopefully one of the methods that we mentioned above solved your Wii controller not working. If you enjoyed the article, we suggest that you also take a look at Microsoft Activision deal will bring COD to Nintendo, or Nintendo Direct summary: Legend of Zelda, Pikmin, and more.
