We are on the verge of getting our hands on the update for the game, and today, we’ll cover Overwatch 2 season 2 balance changes and new content that will be added into the game.
Overwatch 2 has been out for almost a month, and with Season 2 on the way, as well as a fresh new hero in Ramattra, there’s a lot to look forward to. Season 2 is looking excellent, with the new Hero now completely presented to the public. While Season 1 is winding down, we now know all of the new material coming in Season 2 for the most part, and we couldn’t be more excited. Blizzard has finally provided a list of all Season 2 patch notes. We’ll go through the Overwatch 2 season 2 balance changes for all readers below!
Overwatch 2 season 2 balance changes
Overwatch 2 season 2 balance changes aim to bring select Heroes more in line with competitive balance for the rest of the roster. Sojourn has dominated the highest levels of Competitive rankings, according to both analytics and player comments, while remaining a challenge for players lacking the same mechanical talents. To answer the high-skill comments, Blizzard will emphasize on the lethality of Sojourn’s Rail Gun at a distance in Season 2, encouraging players to use Sojourn’s mobility to reduce the distance for more deadly right-clicks.
Doomfist is undergoing substantial adjustments to better support his role as the team’s front line while retaining the playstyle that is key to his Hero identity. When Blizzard publishes this new update on December 6, you can also anticipate changes for Ana, Bastion, Junker Queen, Kiriko, Mercy, and Symmetra.
Overwatch 2 Greek skins from the mythology
Aside from the Overwatch 2 season 2 balance changes, there will be new content and items added to the game. Blizzard’s Season 2 theme is the stuff of gods and legends: Greek Mythology! The Premium Battle Pass’s pinnacle prize for the second season is an all-new Mythic skin: Zeus Junker Queen. New customizations, weapon models, voice lines, and special effects will be added to her skin. By going through the premium battle pass, she can bask in the glory of her other gods, gaining Legendary Poseidon Ramattra and Legendary Hades Pharah.
In a new Battle for Olympus game mode, these heroes and others will be endowed with incredible god-like abilities. This new limited-time event will begin on January 5 and will run until January 19. Keep a look out for new skins this season. They could hint at what’s to come during the Battle for Olympus.
Overwatch 2 season 2 Battle Pass skins
Although many skins have been revealed for the upcoming season 2 of Overwatch 2, we currently have little knowledge on which of the skins will be featured in the Battle Pass, and which will be sold in the in-game store. The only skins that are certainly on the Battle Pass are Junker Queen’s mythic skin, Legendary Poseidon Ramattra, and Legendary Hades Pharah. The Junker Queen skin will likely be the level 80 reward for the battle pass, just like Cyber Demon Genji was for season 1’s Battle Pass.
Also, we can say with confidence that seasonal skins that were teased for the new year and other festive events will not be featured in the Battle Pass, but rather be sold in the shop when the relevant date arrives.
Blizzard tried to create a Battle Pass for Overwatch with the release of Overwatch 2, and it got mixed reactions from the fans, to say the least. While the theme for the first Battle Pass was “cyberpunk,” aside from Genji and Mercy’s skins, the Battle Pass was a mishmash of other random cosmetics and items that had nothing to do with the team. Blizzard saved many cyberpunk-themed skins for the in-game store, where players really criticized Blizzard for overpricing and poor quality. Many gamers even described Blizzard’s monetization as predatory. Ramattra and the Shambali Monastery map
Ramattra emerges as the newest Hero in the game with Overwatch 2 season 2 balance changes. Ramattra is the first Tank that can entirely change forms as part of his core kit, shifting his skills and playstyle from moment to moment, as a reference to his revolutionary ideals. You’ll ascend the twisting route followed by countless Omnics who have sought safety beneath its walls in the new Escort map, Shambali Monastery. Transcend your opponents in a fight for control over Zenyatta and Ramattra’s former home.
New map pool
A new season, aside from Overwatch 2 season 2 balance changes, also means a fresh map pool. Along with the release of our newest map, Shambali Monastery, players can look forward to the return of a fan-favorite, Rialto, and the most spectacular location on the planet, Blizzard World (some rides may not be available due to weather). You’ll also visit Oasis and Nepal at different times of the day, as well as Hollywood and Watchpoint: Gibraltar on alternate days. To reiterate, all off-rotation maps will remain available in custom games.
Hero challenges
With Overwatch 2 season 2 balance changes, Blizzard will provide new challenges to allow players to gain new heroes that they have not yet unlocked. Players who did not unlock Kiriko in Season 1 or who are new to Overwatch can unlock new heroes by picking the Challenge for the hero they want to unlock, which takes you into the Practice Range to study their skills and eventually challenges you to win games of Overwatch.
If you wish to bypass the Challenges, you may unlock these additional heroes immediately from the in-game store. By checking in before the end of Season 2, Overwatch 1 owners will immediately receive new heroes Sojourn, Junker Queen, and Kiriko. As a Season 1 login bonus, new Overwatch 2 players received Sojourn and Junker Queen.
Seasonal events and Twitch drops
Other than Overwatch 2 season 2 balance changes, Blizzard is bringing back the Winter Wonderland event, which will run from December 13 to January 4, as well as the Lunar New Year event, which will run from January 17 to February 1 – all with new and enhanced rewards. This season, each event will include a skin as a prize that you can acquire simply by participating in the fun and accomplishing tasks, like Epic Ice Queen Brigitte, Legendary Winged Victory Mercy, and Legendary Kkachi Echo. Watching your favorite Overwatch 2 streamers on Twitch will win you even more Season 2 prizes. This season, keep a watch out for a Legendary Ramattra skin and various Twitch drops.
Hopefully this new content and Overwatch 2 season 2 balance changes will satisfy the fans who have been critical of Blizzard during the first season.
