Ramattra release date
Blizzard finally broke their silence and identified Ramattra as their new tank hero at the Overwatch League Grand Finals after weeks of rumors about who the new Overwatch 2 hero might be after Kiriko. The reveal of his origin story was quite spectacular, especially in front of a sizable crowd in the enormous auditorium of the Anaheim Convention Center, which hosts BlizzCon.
With the start of the second season on December 6, Ramattra will be added to the Overwatch 2 hero list.
Ramattra abilities
Alec Dawson, Dion Rogers, and Gavin Jurgens Fyhrie, developers of Overwatch 2, discussed Ramattra’s gameplay, skills, and development process in a recent interview with GamerBraves. Ramattra is the first hero to have two distinct forms, hence there is something particularly unique about his skills.
Additionally, we are now aware of all of the new hero’s skills thanks to an official trailer that debuted on Twitter. Here are all the new Overwatch hero abilities:

- Left Click: Fires out a stream of fast-moving nanites
- Right Click: Create a Void Barrier: a temporary, high-health barrier

Ramattra’s lore
We all know Blizzard is great with designing lore elements of their character in all of their games and Ramattra isn’t different.
He was initially created as an Omnic war machine to command the army into battle. He truly simply wants to improve the future for those of his type. He is a peace activist, yet he does not believe that using violence is the best course of action.
He so engaged in peaceful meditation at the Shambali Monastery’s side and, after introducing Zenyatta to the monastery, became to resemble a brother to the latter. Although the creators acknowledged that he and Zenyatta were close, they refrained from disclosing whether Ramattra has any relation to the iris just yet.
His intention was to coexist peacefully alongside humans, but they rejected the Omnics and even massacred them in large numbers. Ramattra’s attitude toward violence altered when he recognized coexistence with humanity was not feasible; as a result, he established the “Null Sector,” an extreme Omnic military force, and he declared war on humanity.
Gameplay of Ramattra
Because we don’t know much about his abilities yet, we can’t make many assumptions about his gameplay at this time, but the Overwatch 2 devs have provided a few minor insights concerning his in-game behavior.
Alec Dawson stated in an interview that he would be a fantastic choice in conjunction with Lucio because Ramattra may benefit greatly from his speed buff. On the other hand, smaller adversaries like Ana might use his size to their advantage and sneak up behind him to attack.
His Omnic and Nemesis forms are likewise highly dissimilar from one another, and when he changes into a different form, the player has the chance to decide how the entire encounter will proceed. Overwatch 2 game developer Gavin Jurgens Fyhrie said:
”The gameplay is very much based around that moment of pulling back and pushing forward. That sort of moment where he attacks at the front but then goes deeper.”
How to unlock Ramattra?
Ramattra will be accessible to everyone who spends $10 on the Premium Battle Pass, just like Kiriko. If not, he probably won’t be available for the free Battle Pass until Tier 55 or above.
