The game sold 51% more units in its first week than the previous best-selling game, God of War, according to the statistics firm. The game has already become the third best-selling God of War title of all time in just one week (and in terms of revenue, it is already No.2).
The official PS5 package accounts for 12% of God of War Ragnarok sales on the PS5. According to GfK CEO Dorian Bloch, this package accounted for 60% of all PS5 systems sold during the week, which was officially the biggest week for PS5 sales this year.

That means Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2’s two-week reign at the top of the rankings has come to an end. The Activision Blizzard title drops to No. 2 following a 39% dip in sales week over week. God of War Ragnarok sales is strong.
Sonic Frontiers is the fourth most popular new game this month. The Sega game sold 5% more copies in its first week than Sonic Forces did in 2017, though digital sales will likely increase that somewhat. 40% of boxed sales were made on the PlayStation 5, 34% on the Nintendo Switch, 14% on Xbox, and 12% on the PlayStation 4.
Football Manager 2023 is ranked 11th, with boxed launch sales down 18% from the previous year’s title (as a PC release, the majority of the game’s sales will be digital).
Stray returned to the charts at No.23 with the physical release of the PS4 edition, while Tactics Ogre: Reborn debuts at No.24 and Cobrai Kai 2: Dojo’s Rising debuts at No.28.
In other news, the boost in PS5 sales propels Sony’s second huge game of the year, Horizon: Forbidden West, to No. 7 following a 141% spike in sales week on week. Switch game sales also increased, with Mario Kart 8: Deluxe (No. 5) increasing 34%, Nintendo Switch Sports (No. 6) increasing 19%, Splatoon 3 (No. 8) increasing 22%, Animal Crossing: New Horizons (No. 9) increasing 50%, and Minecraft on Switch increasing 42%.
