You can learn how to do a power tackle in FIFA 23 (Hard slide and strong standing tackle) with this article. It can be challenging to defend in FIFA 23, so if you’re seeking for advice, we might suggest occasionally using one of the game’s two “power tackle” moves.
The hard slide tackle is a brand-new move, whereas the strong standing tackle is largely unchanged from earlier FIFA games. Compared to their more forgiving counterparts, both have a larger chance of fouling out, receiving a warning, and being dismissed. However, both also combine tackling and ball clearance, which greatly reduces the possibility of losing control of the ball in a risky situation just after the tackle.
When pursuing an opponent with the ball, it is never a good idea to employ either power tackle until your goal is actually in danger. Aim for the ball, never the player, and always approach from the front or the side.

How to do a power tackle in FIFA 23: Hard slide tackle
- Hold R1/RB and push Circle/B to execute a strong sliding tackle.
This assumes that your control configuration is the default. If you’re not, hold the button that you also use for driving ground passes, quick dribbles, and slide tackling together. Your player will kneel and deliver a powerful lead foot kick. They will kick it powerfully and probably out of bounds if it touches the ball. If it touches the other player before the ball (or entirely misses the ball), you’ll probably receive a yellow card, if not a red one. Use this tackle carefully, then.

How to do a power tackle in FIFA 23: Strong slide tackle
- When approaching the opponent with the ball from the front or the side, press Square/X (or whatever your tackle button is) to make a powerful standing tackle in FIFA 23.
This will pull or push the opponent if you approach from behind, increasing the likelihood of being called for a foul. You only need to hold the button down for a brief moment, and occasionally, if you get a little too excited and “tap” the button harder than you meant to, you’ll unintentionally perform a forceful tackle. Similar to the hard slide tackle, the strong standing tackle is essentially the same, except that your player will kick the ball away rather than attempting to regain hold of it.
