Today we are here to explain how to get to Howling Fjord both with Alliance and Horde in WotLK. One of the first regions you’ll come across when exploring Northrend is the Howling Fjord. The Fjord and the Borean Tundra are the two starting areas that are accessible to players at the beginning of the WotLK expansion.
Players from opposing factions are unlikely to cross paths when traveling to and through the Howling Fjord because there are two different ways for them to get there. Since Alliance and Horde players both began in the same zone in The Burning Crusade, there were an excessive number of players vying to advance the same quests, therefore this should come as a surprise to many WotLK veterans. That won’t be the case in Wrath because the two factions are entirely divided across two regions of two different zones.
Fans are asking: What time does WotLK Classic go live? The Classic Lich King release date is officially September 26th.
How to get to Howling Fjord: Alliance and Horde
Here are the travel options for Alliance and Horde players to reach the Howling Fjord in WotLK. Don’t forget to check out our WotLK starting zones: Howling Fjord or Borean Tundra guide for more information!
Alliance
Alliance players can reach Howling Fjord very quickly as long as they have unlocked the Menethil Harbor flight path.
When you arrive in Menethil Harbor, proceed to the docks section of the harbor and walk over to the dock on the far right. Ludin Farrow is the dockmaster for the vessel going to Howling Fjord. You’re in the proper place if you see him. The vessel that will transport you to Howling Fjord stands apart from other Alliance vessels due to its eagle’s head and golden embellishments on its sides.
As soon as the boat arrives, get on it and get ready to travel to Northrend. You will reach Valgarde, the Alliance’s operational hub in the Howling Fjord, after a quick but breathtakingly beautiful boat voyage across the Great Sea.
Horde
Players from the Horde will use a zeppelin to travel to Howling Fjord. The Undercity offers easy access to the zeppelin to Howling Fjord.
Approach the zeppelin tower on the far left, on the western edge of the area, after passing past the entrance gates of the Undercity. Climb the zeppelin tower steps until the Cloudkisser, the zeppelin, lands at the tower. You will be flown to Vengeance Landing, the Horde’s camp on the far eastern edge of the Howling Fjord, after a quick flight aboard the zeppelin.
Where’s the new Shattrath?
It is in Dalaran. These amenities are available in this neutral city for both Horde and Alliance. There won’t be any class trainers or an auction house like in Shattrath, but there will be Grand Master profession trainers and one-way portals to all of Azeroth’s main cities instead (including one to Shattrath.) Since a Mage portal is required to travel to Dalaran before level 74, there will be trainers for this skill available. You’ll have to wait until level 74 without a portal. You can then receive a quest that will enable you to use a crystal on the Crystalsong Forest’s floor to travel to the floating city. When you get there, quickly bind.
How to get to Howling Fjord: Alliance and Horde? In summary:
- For the Alliance, proceed to Stormwind Harbor’s northernmost dock to access Borean Tundra or take the boat from Menethil Harbor in the Wetlands to Howling Fjord.
- The zeppelin in Ogrimmar takes you to Borean Tundra, whereas the one leaving Undercity will take you to Howling Fjord.
