TikTok’s BeReal clone: What is TikTok Now?

TikTok’s BeReal clone: What is TikTok Now?

“What is TikTok Now?”  is the question of the day. This software, called TikTok Now, is particularly intriguing because it is a copy of BeReal, another app that aggressively competes with TikTok for user attention. Additionally, TikTok has separated TikTok Now into a standalone app that users can download. Here is all the information you require.

What is TikTok Now?

TikTok debuted a new feature in September 2022 that is essentially a duplicate of the well-known French social media app BeReal.

To display or record a more accurate portrayal of their day, BeReal asks users to snap a front and rear camera photo at a random moment each day. Workflow on TikTok Now is fairly similar. TikTok Now requests that “you and your pals use the front and back cameras on your device to record what you’re doing at the moment.” You’ll get a notification every day asking you to record a video or take a picture to share what you’re doing quickly.

A week after TikTok Now was introduced, the service was made available as a stand-alone mobile app throughout international regions outside of the US, mostly on iOS.

Do you know Twitch bans gambling from the platform?

How does TikTok Now work?

To see an Explore Feed of TikTok Nows, also known as “a daily photo and video experience” from the “people who matter the most,” tap the Now button (lightning icon). Additionally, you will get a daily reminder to record a 10-second video or a still image so you can easily share what you’re up to.

There are some privacy options in TikTok Now. For starters, users must be 18 years old to share their TikTok Now postings on the Explore Feed. For users between the ages of 13 and 15, only your friends—those you follow and who follow you back—can leave comments on your postings. Although they can adjust their settings to share with the public, even for users 18 or older, the default setting will only let friends access your posts.

The new TikTok Now app is accessible outside of the United States. The app functions quite similarly to the TikTok Now feature that is now included in the TikTok app in the US. However, because it is a distinct mobile app that you must download to use, users can choose to receive push notifications for check-ins. This feature is useful if you would rather have your TikTok app’s notifications turned off but still want to be informed when new Nows are available. Remember that BeReal notifies users via push notifications when “it’s time to BeReal” and displays alert emojis. A similar notification is provided by TikTok Now, which informs users of the “Time to Now” with lightning emojis

A user’s account will default be set to private if they register for a standalone TikTok Now app while under 16. Other than that, the privacy features of TikTok Now are the same for both the app and the functionality.

Is TikTok Now free?

Yes, both the standalone mobile app and the feature within the TikTok app are free.
