It was announced that the Meta VR headset will be introduced on October 11 at 1 PM ET / 10 AM PT. Meta will livestream the Connect Conference event. The business claims in a blog post on the Oculus website that it will discuss the metaverse development it has done so far and provide “a look at what’s to come in the near and long future.” The business has claimed we’ll see information on the Horizon Worlds virtual reality app and hinted that the high-end “Project Cambria” headgear will show up as well. However, the announcements can’t compare to last year’s Connect, where the company changed its name from Facebook to Meta.
Mark Zuckerberg previously stated that the company would be launching a new VR headset in October, and on Tuesday, he provided further evidence for that statement by posting an image to Facebook. He appears to be sporting a device that is quite reminiscent of Project Cambria from previous images.
Meta VR headset price
According to Zuckerberg, the headset will have color passthrough, eye and facial tracking, and a higher-res screen than the one found on the Oculus Quest 2. It is also anticipated to cost substantially more than the Quest 2, whose price was just increased to $399.99.
At the Connect conference, Zuckerberg also hinted that there would be information about “Major upgrades to Horizon and avatar graphics.” The company’s primary metaverse app, Horizon Worlds, allows users to design their own experiences and hang out in virtual reality (similar to programs like VRChat). Due to the screenshot’s very poor graphics, Zuckerberg’s recent Horizon post received a lot of criticism and inspired numerous jokes. In response to the memes, the CEO of Meta pledged considerable enhancements, and on October 11th, we should learn more.
Billions of dollars every year for Metaverse
The business is betting heavily on the metaverse becoming the future and is investing billions of dollars yearly to try and make that happen. At Connect, I predict that they’ll make an effort to defend that expenditure and get people to stop making fun of the metaverse and start paying attention to it.
The truth is that the world of Metaverse is naturally not as popular as it was on the first day. Despite this, many companies continue to invest in this virtual universe. Automotive giants, the world’s leading investment firms, technology companies, and sportswear stores etc. continue to invest in Metaverse.
If the Metaverse project, which Meta is trying to keep alive with very serious investments, does not reach the expected level, it may be the biggest wreck in recent history.
So what is this expected level? As long as the metaverse is not easily accessible, it is obvious that users will stay away from this universe. Especially e-retail companies need to make special discounts to attract users to this universe. Remember, e-commerce pages have grown and developed in this way. When users saw that they could buy products via e-commerce cheaper than the ones they bought from the store, they started shopping by taking their own risks and sending money over the internet. Today, e-commerce sites sell at least thousands of times more than any physical store.
Metaverse also needs this type of content to be a center of attraction. Companies need to make serious discounts in this environment so that people can enter and leave this world. Of course, when there are e-commerce sites, why would any company strive for Metaverse, whose future is a bit of a mystery? Meta company should give the answer to this question. Zuckerberg should sign projects that will raise the Metaverse as soon as possible. Otherwise, billions of dollars of investment of the company will be wasted.
