Today, we will explain the Hogwarts Legacy system requirements. The next open-world action role-playing game’s minimum and recommended system requirements have finally been added by Avalanche Software to the Hogwarts Legacy Steam page. The existence of several upscaling methods is confirmed, and there are also some notes on resolution and frame rate goals.
Hogwarts Legacy system requirements (Minimum):
- Requires a 64-bit processor and operating system
OS: Windows 10 - Processor: Intel Core i5-8400 OR AMD Ryzen 5 2600
- Memory: 8 GB RAM
- Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 or AMD RX Vega 56
- DirectX: Version 12
- Storage: 85 GB available space
- Additional Notes: SDD(Preferred), HDD (Supported), 1080p/60 fps, Low Quality Settings, Upscale Performance Setting
Hogwarts Legacy system requirements (Recommended):
- Requires a 64-bit processor and operating system
OS: Windows 10 - Processor: Intel Core i7-8700 OR AMD Ryzen 5 3600
- Memory: 16 GB RAM
- Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce 1080 Ti or AMD RX 5700 XT
- DirectX: Version 12
- Storage: 85 GB available space
Additional Notes: SSD, 1080p/60 fps, High Quality Settings, Upscale Quality Setting
The GTX 1070, which is the same as Elden Ring’s recommended minimum, originally gave us sticker shock, but that’s not really fair. The 1070 is already more than six years old, which is rather ancient for a mid-high grade card. It’s actually rather amazing that it will reportedly push 1080p resolution and 60 frames per second performance in a 2023 AAA release.
Since the terrible, 720p/30fps-locked Dark Souls: Prepare to Die Edition port for Games For Windows Live, “minimum” performance has advanced significantly. With even older hardware, resourceful gamers may be able to get more resolution/frame rate-reduced experiences via Legacy.
We don’t yet know if that will be NVIDIA Deep Learning Super Sampling (DLSS), AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution (FSR), or perhaps even another upscaling technique developed particularly for the game by the development team. Unfortunately, a side mission and the recipe for the Felix Felicis potion will only be available to PlayStation users, leaving out PC, Xbox, and Nintendo gamers.
Image reconstruction technology—the “Upscale Quality/Performance Setting” specified in the requirements—seems to help the game run more smoothly. NVIDIA DLSS would not function with the older GTX and Radeon GPUs in these specifications, therefore it appears to be either Avalanche’s own solution or AMD’s FSR.
The recommended settings for the game—1080p, 60 frames per second with High settings on a similarly aged i7-8700/GTX 1080 Ti combination—left us a little perplexed. This area might have been better used to recommend gear for greater resolutions, but for now, this is a good beginning since the discussion is completely theoretical.
Recently, Hogwarts Legacy was postponed to February 10th, 2023, at the request of Avalanche Software, who needed more time to finish polishing the ambitious game.
