Rockstar’s 2018 action-adventure classic is the third chapter in the Red Dead series and a prequel to the 2010 game Red Dead Redemption. The plot takes place in 1899 and follows the activities of criminal Arthur Morgan, a member of the Van der Linde gang, through a fictitious version of the Western, Midwestern, and Southern United States.
Arthur must deal with the decline of the Wild West whilst attempting to survive against government forces, rival gangs, and other adversaries. The game’s epilogue follows fellow gang member John Marston, the protagonist of Red Dead Redemption. A former Rockstar developer utilized machine learning to construct his Red Dead Redemption 2 fan-cast. Tobias Kleanthous spent seven years at Rockstar as a top AI/gameplay programmer, working on Red Dead Redemption 2 and Red Dead Online – may he rest in peace. This fan casting has been bothering him since he and the team saw The Revenant, apparently for research on their own frontier game, and it’s now been brought to life and made to appear like an in-engine cast.
Who would be cast as Red Dead Redemption 2 characters in a movie?
The fan casting begins with Leonardo DiCaprio as Arthur Morgan himself. While Leo would surely be excellent in the part, Roger Clarke should be the one to bring the cowboy to the big screen, since his performance in Red Dead Redemption 2 is outstanding, and Arthur wouldn’t be Arthur without Roger.
Daniel Day-Lewis is an excellent pick as Dutch. He’s already done an excellent job of demonstrating how obsession can lead to destruction, so we know he’d be a good choice for Dutch.
The Riddler himself, Paul Dano, is next in line to play Micah. Some of the characters are more difficult to predict than others. Dano has previously played villains, including the abduction in Prisoners and the heel to Day-Lewis in There Will Be Blood.
Next up is the iconic Sigourney Weaver as the equally renowned Sadie Adler, one of Red Dead Redemption 2’s star new arrivals to the Van Der Linde Gang. She has a lengthy history of playing action heroines, so her turn as Adler would be a hit.
Finally, in unspecified roles, we have Jim Carrey and maybe Mickey Rourke.
Carrey could play Hosea, a wise elderly part that would fit the actor, and Mickey Rourke could portray Micah.
