After selling out 50 units of the unique edition My Ami Buggy EV in just 18 minutes, Citroen made this quip about Tesla CEO Elon Musk.
Following a rapid sale of its limited-edition My Ami Buggy electric vehicle, French automobile manufacturer Citroen did not miss an opportunity to pull Tesla CEO Elon Musk’s leg. On Wednesday, Citroen sold all 50 Ami mini electric vehicles through its digital platform in less than 18 minutes. To Elon Musk, the owner of the world’s major electric car company Tesla, the carmaker erected billboards with a message.
“Sorry Elon, the only way to get one is to buy us.”
Citroen’s statement to Musk was shown on billboards at Gare de L’Est in Paris’ eastern station. The message has been interpreted as a jab by the French carmaker at Tesla CEO Elon Musk, who is known for attempting to takeover other firms. Musk had previously revealed a $44 billion plan to acquire Twitter, which was swiftly authorized by the board of the social media site.

The Citroen Ami was launched in April 2020. Since then, the French car maker has sold over 22,000 Ami EVs. Europe, Turkey, and Morocco are the biggest markets for the Citroen Ami. In fact, in Morocco, where it is produced locally, one does not need a driving license to drive this nano-sized EV.
Citroen My Ami Buggy is a limited edition EV
The My Ami Buggy is a limited-edition vehicle produced by Citroen. The starting price for the limited edition My Ami Buggy, which was offered by the carmaker, is 9,790 euros (around $10.289). The tiny electric vehicle has no traditional roof. Instead, Citroen provides canvas roofs that can be rolled back when needed. It also features metal tube gates.

The Ami EV is a small electric car with a length of 2.41 meters, a width of 1.39 meters, and a height of 1.52 meters, which rides on tiny 14-inch wheels. The nano-sized EV comes with a 6 kilowatt electric motor and a 5.5 kWh battery pack. Its bodywork is mostly plastic and the maximum speed is 45 kmph, while the vehicle can travel up to 70 kilometers on a single charge.
