Today, we are going to be going over the Snapchat Plus subscription service, which is reported to be a premium subscription for the popular social media app.
Snapchat is conducting internal testing of a paid subscription called Snapchat Plus, which will apparently provide early access to features and other capabilities. According to a statement given to The Verge, Snap spokesperson Liz Markman said:
“We’re doing early internal testing of Snapchat Plus, a new subscription service for Snapchatters. We’re excited about the potential to share exclusive, experimental, and pre-release features with our subscribers, and learn more about how we can best serve our community.”
What is Snapchat Plus?
Snap is also experimenting with additional features for this premium subscription, according to screenshots and information posted on Twitter by app researcher Alessandro Paluzzi. The ability to pin one of your friends as your “#1 BFF,” change the Snapchat logo, and see who rewatches your stories are all being tested. The price of the service is listed at 4.59 Euros per month and 45.99 Euros per year, according to Paluzzi. Of course, these may be placeholder prices at this stage.
So… by subscribing to #Snapchat+ you can:
1️⃣ Pin a friend as a #1 BFF
2️⃣ Get access to exclusive Snapchat icons
3️⃣ Display a badge in your profile
4️⃣ See your orbit with BFF
5️⃣ See your Friend's whereabouts in the last 24 hours
6️⃣ See how many friends have rewatched your story— Alessandro Paluzzi (@alex193a) June 16, 2022
Although Snapchat is the most well-known, it is not the only social network or messaging platform to offer a paid tier. Telegram has also confirmed that it is working on a premium subscription, which will be released later this month. Last year, Twitter introduced its Blue service, which might even accept Dogecoin as payment, if Elon Musk’s purchase of Twitter finalizes.
Since Apple’s adding a privacy option for advertising in iOS 14.5, allowing users to individually disable ad tracking on an app-by-app basis, numerous free apps have had to reconsider how they make money. Snapchat has said that slowing down hiring this year was caused by changes to iOS and has warned that revenue targets will be missed.
