The first gameplay trailer for the futuristic military shooter, and the season 1 “Zero Hour” battle pass, provides a sneak peek at what’s ahead for devoted Battlefield 2042 fans in the months to come.
Battlefield 2042 Season 1 trailer
The game’s newest Specialist, Ewelina Lis, comes packing a rocket launcher – she’s a “vehicle killer specialist” and can shoot player-directed missiles at tanks and helicopters, including the RAH-68 Huron and YG-99 Hannibal gunships. Just like the Resistance character, Lis comes with the Armor Hunter status that allows her to “provide priceless information on damaged vehicles.”
In addition to additional vehicles and weapons, the update will also bring players new gear in the form of a crossbow called the Ghostmaker R10, which is named “loud but deadly” and fires explosives. The BSV-M Marksman Rifle is said to be effective at distance and in close quarters.
In the first season of Battlefield 2042, nonlethal smoke grenade launchers will be introduced, a device that fires a projectile that creates a smoke wall that provides visual concealment.
Battlefield 2042 Season 1: Zero Hour supports up to 128 players
With the introduction of the map Exposure, players will have a new arena to pursue their goals. The new map is in the Canadian Rockies and features steep vertical terrain for dramatic aerial confrontations and surface-to-air combat possibilities. In Breakthrough mode, which is accessible on PlayStation 5 and Windows PC, up to 64 players can play. On Xbox Series X, Conquest mode supports up to 128 participants.
Season 1 of Battlefield 2042 will also have a 12-week battle pass, with free and premium content levels. New guns, vehicles, and cosmetics will be available through the free tier. The premium tier (which costs $10, or 100 Battlefield Coins) includes cosmetic extras such as skins, player cards, weapon charms, and takedown animations. According to DICE and EA, the premium section of 2042’s season pass will not impact gameplay.
The first season of ‘Battlefield 2042’ arrives simultaneously as significant gameplay changes for DICE’s game. The 128-player version of Breakthrough has been removed, leaving huge multiplayer battles for which the series is known to Conquest mode. Aside from that, DICE is also releasing several significant maps reworks, such as adding cover and reducing player count sizes, and “winding down” one of the game’s primary modes, Hazard Zone.

Is Battlefield 2042 Ultimate Edition worth it?
Our answer would be no if the question was whether the Ultimate Edition is the most cost-effective. Unless you’ve really developed a taste for cosmetics, there’s no need to spend an extra $40-$50 on just looks. It would be ideal to skip the Standard and Gold Editions of Battlefield 2042 and go straight to the Platinum version.
