If you don’t know how to pause AirPods, we are here to help. It doesn’t matter which generation of AirPods you have, there are several different methods for each of them. The AirPods’ incredible audio quality and ease of use have made them one of the most popular headphones on the market.
Apple’s revolutionary design makes it simple to lose track of where you’re going or whom you’re talking to, but their compact size belies their enormous functionality. You may utilize them simply by tapping on them, inserting them into your ears and removing them again, or using your iPhone or iPad to control music playback, phone calls, and other audio media. Now let’s learn how to pause AirPods.
How to pause AirPods?
If you remove both AirPods from your iPhone or iPad, the music will revert to the speaker of the device. There are a few simple methods for stopping audio on your AirPods, one of which allows you to customize how tapping works when using your first and second-generation AirPods.
Remove an AirPod from your ear
The easiest approach to turn off the audio that is currently playing through your AirPods is to remove one of them from your ear. The Automatic Ear Detection sensor will detect the removal and pause the sound if you pop one of your AirPods out of your ear. Remove both AirPods, and you give up control of the music on your iPhone or iPad. Hopefully, nothing like this will happen but if you lose your AirPods do you know how to find lost AirPods?
Simply follow these steps:
- To pause your music, press the force sensor on one of your AirPods’ stems. The sensor feels like an indented oval. To resume audio, push it once again.
- The Active Noise Cancellation and Transparency modes are accessible via the force sensor as well.
- Simply press and hold the force sensor to switch between the two modes.
- You may pause audio by pressing the force sensor on your AirPods Pro.
Double-tap on AirPods (1st and 2nd-gen Airpods)
The simplest way to pause your AirPods is to double-click the earbud you specified in your iOS Settings app.
- First, open the Settings app.
- Enter the “Bluetooth” section and then tap on the tab with your AirPods to connect.
- Tap the “i” icon next to your AirPods tab. Choose which AirPod will have the Play/Pause function by tapping one of “Left” or “Right” under “Double-tap on Airpod.”
- Choose “Play/Pause” in the next section.
- To return to your AirPods settings page, tap the blue text in the upper-left corner with the name of your AirPods.
With the AirPods 2, you may also say “Hey Siri, turn off music” to stop the noise. You may always just use the app’s controls to cease the stream of sound, as with any audio gadget linked to an iPhone or iPad.
Use Siri
You can also use Siri to pause Airpods. It is possible to say “Hey Siri” to stop or play your music with the new AirPods Pro and second-generation AirPods. To launch Siri, press and hold the force sensor on your AirPods Pro.
It’s possible that the second-generation AirPods won’t work with your iPhone because you have a newer software version installed. However, if you use an older software version on your iPhone, you’ll need to set up one of your AirPods to utilize Siri when double-tapping. If you want to learn how to make Siri read messages aloud automatically, we have a guide for you!
To do so:
- Open the “Settings” app and connect to your AirPods under “Bluetooth.”
- Once linked, choose the blue “i” icon and select either the Left or Right Airpod from the “Double-tap on Airpod.” menu.
