If you are asking yourself who was the girl at the end of Doctor Strange 2 after watching the movie, we have to say that you are not the only one. What’s a Marvel movie without some sort of mid-credits surprise cameo? Strange in the Multiverse of Madness continues this long tradition with its mid-credits appearance. If you’re unfamiliar with the source material or just don’t understand who that person was and what it means for Dr. Strange’s future, we’ve got you covered.
How many end credit scenes in Doctor Strange 2?
Doctor Strange 2 includes two credits sequences, one that occurs midway through the film and another that follows after the final credits have begun to roll. Only the first teaser from the movie is significant to the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s overall plot, but the second is well worth watching as well.
In the mid-credits sequence, Doctor Strange is seen walking down a street after his third eye has opened in the conclusion of the movie when he is suddenly approached by a new interdimensional traveler. But who was the girl at the end of Doctor Strange 2?
In the film, we see a woman (Charlize Theron) who is credited as “Clea,” but does not introduce herself. But who was the girl at the end of Doctor Strange 2? Clea is Stephen Strange’s closest thing to a normal love interest in the Marvel Universe, coming from another world entirely. She’s also a powerful sorceress with a long history and, following Stephen’s death in the comics, has taken up his mantle as Sorcerer Supreme.
Clea explains Stephen that he has caused an Incursion, and they must go resolve the problem. When she asks if he’s prepared to depart, his third eye opens, he replies yes, and they run through the wormhole she created.
Clea’s comic book backstory gets a little convoluted, to say the least. Her father is Prince Orini, a previous ruler of the Dark Dimension who was a devoted servant of Dormammu and was toppled by Stephen Strange in his first solo MCU film. It’s unclear what Clea’s MCU origin will be or what her superhero abilities might be, but we do know that she has the ability to travel between dimensions. If you haven’t watched the movie yet the teaser is below.
Post credit scene Doctor Strange 2
If you have learned who was the girl at the end of Doctor Strange 2, now let’s talk about the post credit scene. The final scene at the end of the credits is a lighthearted joke for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness to go out on. Strange has a disagreement with a guy in an alternative dimension known as Pizza Poppa (played by Sam Raimi’s frequent cameo maker, Bruce Campbell) who confronts America Chavez (Xochitl Gomez) after she steals a bowl of his street vendor pizza balls. Strange casts a spell on the man, causing him to spray mustard in his own face, then leaving him to strike himself repeatedly. Strange and America depart as Strange explains that the enchantment will endure for three weeks.
The film’s final teaser sequence, which appears at the conclusion of the credits, returns us to Earth-838, the world of the Illuminati, and Campbell’s pizza guy character. Finally, after what appears to be weeks of hitting himself in the face, Campbell’s protagonist regains control of his limbs. He then looks into the camera and screams “It’s over!” giving the movie one last chuckle before you leave.
While the Clea sequence appears to be little more than a lead-in for Doctor Strange’s next Marvel Cinematic Universe adventure, it’s difficult to interpret. In an endless multiverse with no boundaries, there are an infinite amount of possibilities for follow-ups. But at least now you have an idea about who was the girl at the end of Doctor Strange 2.
