Spotify not showing Now Playing bug prevents you from accessing the app’s media controls. This bug, which affects Android users alone, removes the Spotify Now Playing bar, notification control panel, and home screen widget. It also prevents Spotify from pausing your music automatically when other applications play audio.
Spotify’s latest version, version 8.7.20.1261, was released on April 7th and is currently causing this problem for Android users. Spotify has acknowledged the problem and says that it mostly affects Samsung phones, however, there is a large number of complaints from other Android users.
“Hey folks,
We have received reports that Android users (mostly Samsung users) are unable to see the Now Playing bar on the app whenever they play songs/podcasts.”
We don’t know why this bug occurs, but it might be related to Spotify‘s new Now Playing bar, which was introduced in version 8.7.20.1261. The bar now has a glassy appearance with rounded corners, at least according to what it looks like when it actually appears.
How to fix Spotify not showing Now Playing bar?
Android users rejoice cause Spotify made a statement on their community page that the bug has been resolved and the fix is being rolled out to all users. The official statement was:
“Hey folks,
A number of Spotify users on Android devices may have experienced issues with the Now Playing View and music playback.
A fix has now been implemented and is rolling out to all users.
Cheers!”
