The popular short video platform will enable users to downvote a comment on videos with a new TikTok dislike button.
TikTok dislike button will help reducing violent comments on videos
TikTok has confirmed in a blog post that individuals can hide the dislike of comments they believe are “irrelevant or inappropriate” and not make them visible to others. Last year, some users noticed various alternatives to this option.

On TikTok if a user doesn’t like a video, there’s an option to dislike the video itself. But this new TikTok dislike button will make it possible to flag and report a comment that violate community guidelines.
The company also says it’s experimenting with sending reminders about features like comment filtering and bulk block and delete to creators who receive a high volume of negative comments. Decisions about whether to roll out the feature in full will be made in the coming weeks, according to TikTok.
The company is also working on a Watch History feature. It appears as TikTok may finally provide us with a straightforward method to go through a list of the videos we’ve watched on the app.
TikTok has stated that it deleted over 85 million videos violating guidelines between October and December 2021.
How to dislike videos on TikTok?
Follow these steps to dislike videos on TikTok:
- Tap Heart on the right panel of the video.
- Double-tap on the video.
- Note: Hearts will change from white to red on liked videos.
- To unlike a video you previously liked:
- Tap Heart again to unlike and the heart will go from red to white.
