How Degen Trilogy will affect BAYC? Is it realistic for an NFT collection to develop into a genuine mainstream brand? The Bored Ape Yacht Club is attempting this. Almost exactly a year after being introduced as a set of 10,000 NFTs, Coinbase announced that a trilogy of Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC) films would be released. In June, the first film in the series will premiere, and it will connect with Coinbase’s long-awaited NFT marketplace launch.
“The Degen Trilogy,” a film series sponsored by Coinbase, is being labeled as such. A “degen” in cryptocurrency parlance is a generic and endearing term used to describe someone who buys cryptocurrencies or NFTs without doing adequate investigation into what they’re getting. The first part will be shown at NFT NYC, an annual NFT convention in New York from June 20 to June 23.
“We have an incredible group of producers, writers, and animators on this project,” Coinbase adds on the film’s website. “But we can’t tell you who they are just yet because you’ve seen what they’ve accomplished before.”

What is Degen Trilogy?
The bigger question is, of course, how big an NFT brand can grow. Getting a dozen or so celebrities to join the Bored Ape Yacht Club is one thing. Getting people to care about Bored Ape Yacht Club when they are perplexed by NFTs is a much greater accomplishment.
BAYC has a lot of potential and is attempting to realize it. In addition to growing BAYC’s “onchain” presence through the Ape Coin cryptocurrency that was launched last month and the Otherside metaverse in which the coin will be used, efforts are being made to take BAYC “offchain.” Ape figurines, a pop-up burger restaurant was set up in California, and a BAYC mobile game is being created with Animoca Games as part of Yuga Labs’ attempt.
The startup is also investigating the use of NFTs in the entertainment industry, with Hello Sunshine Media, a firm owned by actress Reese Witherspoon, working on a feature film and TV series based on World of Women NFT
How to watch Degen Trilogy?
Coinbase, for its part, is also enthusiastic about going beyond NFT culture. The BAYC movies will be produced by Coinbase, which has been a popular bitcoin exchange for years and has been hyping the release of its own NFT marketplace to compete with OpenSea for the past six months. The Degen Trilogy will be linked to the planned opening of that platform, as you’ll need to have a Coinbase wallet in order to see the films.
