Dread Hunger is a game of survival and betrayal, in which eight explorers navigate their ship through an ice-covered wilderness. Two traitors on the crew call on sinister forces to subvert them. While quite similar to Among Us, it brings new elements to the table when compared to the mother of the “sus” meme. Even though the game was released almost a year ago, it gained quite a bit of traction over the last two months according to the numbers from Steam Charts. If you want to check out the game for yourself, you can buy it off Steam. Sadly, it is not currently available on Playstation or Xbox.
Best Dread Hunger beginners guide
In this Dread Hunger beginners guide, we will provide you with tips to help you survive and have as much fun as possible. So, without further ado, here is our best Dread Hunger beginners guide.
Warmth
- Stoves and wood burners may be found on the ship or at various locations across the world. Both stoves and wood burners provide heat, with the latter allowing players to prepare a variety of dishes.
- Campfires, on the other hand, are an ‘out and about’ heat source that also allows for simple cooking. Lanterns provide warmth while mobile, but can’t be used for cooking.
- Insulation varies in tents, caves, and igloos. To keep the cold at bay, add fuel to the provided heat source or construct a campfire at these locations.
- Because the nights are considerably colder, you should exercise caution when venturing out.
Food
- Raw animal flesh is obtained from carcasses and may be eaten raw or cooked on a campfire/stove. Raw meat has less nutritional value than cooked meat for Explorers.
- Blubber is taken from dead seals and can be consumed straight away, used in stews, or utilized as a crafting component.
- Human meat is harvested, as you would expect, from dead people and it can be eaten raw or cooked on a campfire/stove.
- Dead people’s bodies may be chopped up and used to collect body parts. They can also be added to stews to be cooked on the stove. Stews are very nutritious and wholesome.
Crafting and cooking
- Crafting is done on a workbench. Here you may make weapons, among other things.
- A stove is used to cook food. You may prepare meals, tea, poison, and antidote. In a pinch, you can grill also raw meat on a fire.
Healing
- Passive healing is directly linked to hunger. If you have a full belly, you will be healing faster.
- Laudanum is a healing tonic. It may be taken as-is or made into a syringe for greater effectiveness.
- To recover when you are down, you must recuperate. You can crawl or be carried by a companion to a bed where you will be revived. A jab from a laudanum syringe may also help.
- Beds may be found on the main ship or at various locations throughout the world.
Inventory
- To rapidly move items between your personal inventory and containers, bodies, stoves, workbenches, and other objects, right-click them.
- Two or more items of the same kind may be stacked.
- Be cautious of the weight of what you carry; it will slow you down considerably.
The bad stuff
- Bone daggers are used to cast spells. Anyone found carrying these might be labeled untrustworthy. These should be kept far away as possible, such as at the bottom of the sea.
- Totems are constructed by Thralls to improve the effectiveness of magic. Destroy a totem on sight if one is discovered by an Explorer.
The expedition may be cut short by the Thralls in a variety of ways:
- By poisoning the meal by crafting a poison and dragging it onto the food to contaminate it.
- Blowing up the ship by filling barrels with gunpowder and igniting them.
- By adding gunpowder to it when the boiler is on, in order to sabotage it.
We hope that you enjoyed our Dread Hunger beginners guide and, will survive despite the cold and the Thralls.
