The open-world Harry Potter adventure set at Hogwarts will be available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
The first trailer for Harry Potter: Hogwarts Legacy showed a short introduction to the plot, with players getting a taste of the game’s character creation, some of the activities they’ll encounter within and outside of the school, and a sneak peek at some characters. Hogwarts Legacy takes place roughly 100 years before Harry Potter enrolls at Hogwarts.
Worries about the reception of Hogwarts Legacy
Although the game is set in the Harry Potter universe, J.K. Rowling was not involved in its creation. In response to Rowling’s public and transphobic opinions on gender identity, Warner Bros. Games quickly distanced the project from her after announcing Hogwarts Legacy in September 2020.
The reception Hogwarts Legacy receives from the general public will be closely observed. Many LGBTQ advocates have abandoned their Harry Potter fandom and feel that supporting the game is a way to support Rowling herself. Other individuals have also accused the game’s original lead designer of maintaining a YouTube channel where he promoted conservative ideas and aired comparable cultural complaints, as well.
