Elden Ring boss locations and how to defeat them?
With all that in mind, here are the initial Elden Ring bosses you’re likely to encounter when you first start playing, as well as some pointers on how to discover and, more significantly, defeat them.
Elden Ring boss: Beastman of Farum Azula
The Beastman of Farum Azula may be found in Limgrave, on the Groveside Cave’s north wall, past the church, along a tree-line in the back of the woods. The Beastman drops an amulet that increases your maximum stamina, and a chest in its realm contains the valuable Flask of Wondrous Physick, which can be modified to restore HP and FP.
You may defeat this boss with any class’s starting gear, and you should do so as soon as you gain an extra flask. The shield is a great equalizer in this fight, and the church merchant’s shield is more than sufficient to deter him. When he pauses, block, counter with guard; lookout for a leaping strike at the end of his combo sequence, which he seems to employ more frequently when below half health.
He can hurl a variety of attacks at you, with each one requiring some time to wind up before it erupts. Don’t block or dodge too soon since some of his assaults take a while to finish. Rolling backward will avoid the majority of his slashes since he swings his sword in an arc.
Elden Ring boss: Demi-Human Chiefs
The Demi-Human Chiefs dwell in the Dissenter’s Cave, which may be found on the back of Limgrave’s western coast. You’ll want a torch to go through the cave, so if you don’t have one, get one from the church merchant nearby. After you’ve defeated this adversary, you can reach the dragon covenant island at the cave’s conclusion, which is where some fantastic magic spells may be found.
The Demi-Human Chiefs are, in essence, nothing more than enlarged basic foes with on-screen HP indicators. The true problem is the tiny demi-humans that nip at your heels during this battle. While you’re clearing out the other foes, keep a safe distance or watch your back, then concentrate on the chiefs. Thinning the herd is incredibly easy here since you can avoid them without getting close by utilizing magic. You may occasionally fight the first chief without incurring the second’s notice if you stay at the front of the cave.
Elden Ring boss: Tree Sentinel
The moment you leave the Cave of Knowledge, this armored horseman becomes visible. We don’t, however, recommend engaging him right away. At first, it’s a lot less dangerous to sneak past him or go the long way around rather than risk his wrath. When you decide to battle him, you’ll obtain the Holy Ground Shield of War as a reward.
The Tree Sentinel rides a horse with tremendous mobility, and he sports a long-reaching halberd. It’s tempting to face him on horseback, however fighting on the ground is advised. The majority of his assaults may be blocked or avoided with ease, and we found that going up against him on the spectral steed made us more vulnerable. While charging towards him, be wary of his leaping assaults and stay on his right side since he’ll pound you with his shield if you wind up on his left. The Tree Sentinel enjoys galloping away from you following a hit, making magic and other ranged attacks extremely powerful here.
Elden Ring boss: Mad Pumpkin Head
The Pumpkin Head is located in a cave on the eastern side of Limgrave, near the lake and guarded by the Flying Dragon Agheel. Look for the ruins with large pink plants. Climb up on the nearby ruin fragment and drop down to the stairs below to reach the blocked tunnel leading to Pumpkin Head. When you finally defeat him, you’ll get his helmet and will meet Sellen, a sorcerer instructor.
Pumpkin Head is a hulking figure with a huge flail and a big head. His flail, even when shielded, causes hemorrhaging, so keep your distance from him and his attacks and try to stay to his side and rear so you can more easily dodge his attacks. Blocking is a good idea, but you’ll still take hemorrhaging damage eventually. Pumpkin Head’s massive helmet may be used to headbutt you on occasion, and you should try to avoid attacking his head when possible because it doesn’t have much of an effect. Playing at the range is always beneficial.
Elden Ring boss: Burial Tree Watchdog
The Stormfoot Catacombs’ last boss is a strange gargoyle found just northwest of the Limgrave church. If you activate the statue on the hill behind the church, you may discover this dungeon. Past the ruin fragments on the ground, look for a group of torch-wielding dregs. The Burial Tree Watchdog dies after being vanquished, releasing a magical type of Ash of War with a strong boost for intelligence-based characters.
The Burial Tree Watchdog has odd bursts of movement and assault. When it hovers up to the ceiling and performs a plunging assault, your best chance is to back away and roll. Wait for it to begin its fall, and then roll away. Otherwise, it will most likely track you. It may react to you hitting it with a melee weapon by performing a near-360-degree sword swing, and it can also fire projectiles at you from afar. Its melees, on the other hand, are more difficult to avoid than its spells; nevertheless, pyromancy is an excellent match.
Elden Ring boss: Grave Warden
The Grave Warden, the final boss of the Murkwater Catacombs, is located at the end of the northern branch of Agheel Lake on the eastern side of Limgrave. It’s guarded by skeletons and slimes, both of which are easy to go around. The Storm Blade Ash of War is given as a reward for defeating this adversary which is especially useful for Tarnished that doesn’t focus on magic as much.
The Grave Warden attacks you with close-range hammer swings and long-distance sweeping strikes. All sorts of magic work well on him, but he closes gaps quickly, so be on your toes. There’s no secret formula for this boss: look out for his big chain attacks, block or dodge his hammer volleys, which are often three-hit combos, and inflict damage when you can. When your health drops below a certain point, he’ll enter a powered state that seems to improve his attacks, so be extra cautious in the second half of the fight.
Elden Ring boss: Stonedigger Troll
The Limgrave Tunnels’ final boss is the Stonedigger Troll, which is essentially a more difficult form of the fleshy giants that dot Limgrave. Limgrave Tunnels are accessible via Agheel Lake’s northwestern tip. To get to this boss, you’ll have to take two lifts downward; halfway through the first one’s drop, use the second one to access a secret platform. The route continues on a forking track with a third lift on the left. This can be taken down or dropped down the rocks running counterclockwise around the mine shaft.
The Stonedigger Troll has incredible physical protection, and cutting weapons will ricochet off his thick skin. Crushing weapons such as axes and clubs are effective, but magic is the best of the lot. The most basic spells will dispatch him with ease, and from a safe distance, so summon your inner mage if you can.
Look out for a flurry of smash strikes when the Stonedigger Troll approaches half health, which typically finishes in an AoE that hits practically the whole room. During this assault, maintain a safe distance from the troll since it will turn in your direction. If you choose to attack his legs with a weapon, be ready to avoid a stamp assault after each successful blow.
Elden Ring boss: Bloodhound Knight Darriwil
The Forlorn Evergaol is where the Bloodhound Knight Darriwil can be found. You may not depart until you’ve bested Darriwil or perished, so prepare carefully.
This boss attacks and scampers around swiftly, having a long-range weapon that causes hemorrhaging and will frequently disappear before approaching you. His basic four-hit rush combo always ends in a leaping attack, giving you a great opportunity to strike. If he’s dragging the ground with his sword, move to the right as quickly as possible to avoid a tracking upswing.
If he scrapes his claws, run straight away to keep out of range. Because Darriwil is so aggressive, it’s difficult to utilize magic in this battle since you’ll probably want a trusted shield no matter what you’re utilizing. That said, you can inflict some magic damage as soon as Darriwil phases into the arena.
Elden Ring boss: Flying Dragon Agheel
When you approach the middle of Lake Agheel, a dragon will descend. You’ll get its heart after defeating it, which you may exchange for an incredible incantation on the isle accessible via the Demi-Human Chiefs’ cave.
Agheel has a very visible tail, claw, and breath attacks that are strong, and it boasts a lot of health and high protection. For the entire fight, you’ll need to be mounted on your spectral steed, Torrent. It’s difficult to overcome Agheel on foot because his fire breath assaults are nearly impossible to outrun without Torrent.
If he twitches, gallop away, or else he’ll perform an aerial plunge or a breath attack; if Agheel rises up into the air, canter counter-clockwise to avoid aerial plunge and breath attacks. With Torrent, you can simply back away and double-jump to avoid his sweeping claw assaults. Agheel’s head takes greater damage, and he is weak to lightning, yet striking his wingtips and legs are quite effective too. However, this fight will take some time, but if you stay on your horse and play cautiously, Agheel should fall rather easily.
Elden Ring boss: Margit the Fell Omen
Margit the Fell Omen, the final boss of the Elden Ring network test and Stormveil Castle’s introductory opponent, is a speedy moving spell swordsman with an astounding range of assaults. Bring a shield, bring a buddy, or call forth a phantom – it doesn’t matter as long as you have something.
Margit will frequently hurl lightning spears at you if you retreat to heal or cast magic, so be careful when ranged. He’ll call down a lightning hammer for a powerful leap assault once his health is reduced somewhat. If you avoid this attack just before he hits the ground, you may score some free damage. Margit will begin to create a variety of magic weapons and use new techniques after executing this technique.
When Margit completes a combo with a staff swing angled downward, he will frequently follow up with a fast stab from his magic dagger. He can follow this up with his hammer-leaping assault, so don’t be too aggressive. While turning around, he’ll use his tail to swipe you if you hit from the rear. His lightning sword combo is best avoided by blocking, and after the fourth attack, you can frequently counter with a guard counter.
