According to eBay CEO Jamie Iannone, eBay may soon allow crypto payment options.
The internet marketplace is one of the oldest e-commerce platforms, and it wants to become the preferred platform for Gen Z and Millennials. According to The Street, during an interview with the CEO, the company has been attempting to include crypto payment choices for a long time.
During his meeting, Iannone acknowledged that eBay is considering changing to new payment methods because the company already handles $85 billion in business on its platform.
When it comes to eBay’s attitude toward innovative technology such as blockchain and cryptocurrencies, Iannone remarked that the growing popularity of nonfungible tokens on its platform without making an official statement about it.
eBay considering crypto payment options and NFTs
Iannone said that last year, the firm modified its policies to make the e-commerce platform a place to buy and sell anything, whether it’s a physical or digital good.
With the increase in popularity and demand for cryptocurrencies, several internet platforms have started to include crypto payments options. eBay, with a focus on attracting Millennial and Gen Z customers, will also attempt it. However, it won’t be eBay’s first attempt at crypto payments; the company tried integrating BTC payments in 2014.
Last year, eBay was considering Bitcoin payment integration as well as NFT trading. With cryptocurrency becoming more common and acceptable among the masses, the crypto payment integration plan appears to be near finished.
